I just recently pulled my nids out of storage and have decided to mod and paint them. I know its been done but converting them to xenomorphs (aliens from alien movies) the conversion part is easy enough but not to sure on the painting. I know black for sure but want to know what would be a good highlight color and the best way to do the clear ooze they constantly secrete. Thanks for the help.

Well, I'd reccomend highlighting the models with a Shadow Grey (or whatever the new paint is called). The ooze could easily be represented with 'ardcoat.

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

The aliens from the films seem to have a blue tint to their carapace but they have also been shown in artwork to have a greenish hue as well. You could try to mix black with turquoise or maybe even Jade Green (GW does not make this color any more, so look for VGC Jade Green [026]) or Scurvy Green (also OOP, try VGC Scruf Green [027]).

Also, don't waste money on a pot of 'Ard Coat... Just go to Michaels or A.C. Moore and by a bottle of Liquitex gloss varnish. It's $8 for for 118 mL as opposed to what, like almost $4 for 12 mL.

Also if you want to do some slime like driping from the mouth or perhaps from claws you could try getting a super glue accelerant.zip kicker makes a version of it then drip super glue on hit it with the spray and get some good effects that you can paint over.

The best thing about the internet is how quickly you can offend the maximum amount of people with minimum effort.

Gloss clearcoat for slime.

-Edit- Oh and two part epoxy you could try, though it wouldn't do "dripping" very well.

better yet you could use floor wax, its a lot cheaper and a little thicker so you can mix it with paint colors maybe a dark blue or red and get a glossy wash effect.

After polishing floors with that in Basic, that idea never came to mind. What would you use to dilute such a subatance? The kind we had was kinda on the thik side.
