As much as it frustrates me to use Templars as a shooty army when they should be in your face shoving chainswords up the enemy's a**, it still seems that they do shooty best, so here goes:

HQ:

I intend to provide cover for the dread by placing it in ruins or using one of the termie squads to surround it (only need 25% blocked to get cover save now) it also has a 5++. The dread itself pumps out 12 AC shots and 2 kraks/frags at BS 5 and has the AA rule (keeps its BS against flyers!)
I think I would keep the rhinos in reserve while the rest of the army does as much damage as possible then send the rhinos out to capture an objective. The land-speeders got nerfed so I'm swapping to Tornado pattern for anti-horde support and vehicle busting MM.

I really like this list, I'm jealous I'm not willing to put the effort into my BT anymore. couple of things i noted though.

rhino, EA, smoke launcher, dozer blade

Rhinos aren't very good, I can see the goal with moving quick to get to objectives but I don't think its going to work very well on the field, you can at least cut the upgrades off them maybe. Drop Pod Assault with empty pods as proxies for your primary drop is gonna get you troops faster to where they need to be, all in all works out to be 6 pts cheaper (you'll have to buy 4 pods) than your current set up but i think it will be worth it. You can use your proxies as favorable cover such shooty crusader cover,mortis cover or approach pathways to objectives .

I'm not really a fan of LS anymore but thats really at your discretion and play testing.

I would drop your close range speeder though either in favor of an identical tornado of not have it at all.

A terminator chaplain(120pts for on charge 6 str6 atks 2+/4+ plus rules) attached to your command squad for LoH, controlled movement for RZ and purchase cenobytes, which I think could be worth it(additional charge range on RZ and cheap wounds). cutting the close range speeder and 3 marines from your assault squads will allow this to happen.

Terminator Command Squad, TH/SS sergeant,

your paying 15 points for the concussive ability? hes only got 1 wound give him a power fist, its only 15pts.... more points! technically speaking, RAW you can also give the sergeant terminator honors, as no where under the entry does it say that the model is wearing terminator armour. This can backfire, as RAW this means our terminators don't have a 5+ inv save.

3 things,

1) Are forge-world units tournament legal? Because I was thinking of getting that Dreadnaught as well.

2) Why not drop the rhinos on the troop options. Those are expensive and 2 of them with options comes out to another standard Dread.

3) las cannons on troops, how worried are you about av14?

I am thinking of running a very similar list but with 3 MM bikes and an attack bike with MM for my anti land raider. Very cheap 4x troops (no options, though that could be a mistake), and an extra dread.

I think in apocalypse it states they can be taken as standard choices in Codex:[codex(s)] as [FoC slot here]. I know in the tournies I've been in, it actually has stated if forgeworld models are outlawed or not; sometimes its just certain models
that are outlawed, the LR Achilles seems to be a common one.

Last I checked LCs aren't just reserved for just av14, +1 str +1ap over a ml for 5 pts seems like not much of an expense really increased chance for penetration and increased damage on the penetration chart can't really be knocked. 33% increased effectiveness for 5 points
is pretty good; also makes the army more versatile for dealing with armies with something like multiple terminators like deathwing, Kaldor/paladins or Logan/wolfguard.

Oh my point was comparing LC to a standard bolter, but you're right in that they would counter terminators well. Something that we'll see more of. How's the plasma cannon on the dread? I don't even know if BT can get it. Don't have codex with me.

He should really make the 5/3 or 7/2 intiates/neo, the squads issue is once they lose a wound they're going to run about everywhere(likely out of cover). PC not an option for BT dreads AC, TLC or MM.

yeah after reading it over just now with the errata and 6th it is like that good to know now.

RZ is a consolidation move once you take 1 causality. roll for LD, if you pass you then roll a D6 and move toward the closest enemy model. With your Chappy, its closer to any emeny. Crusader seals makes you re-roll that if you want to go further, or not.

Yeah we know, he's saying that in a shooting squad, if they take a wound then he doesn't have to move them at all anymore.

I appreciate all the feedback, I'll tinker around with the list and try to fine-tune it.

I would also like to note that after someone pointed this out to me, our typhoons launchers aren't nerfed.

My brothers, it is actually very easy to provide this proof to your TO. I already did this with mine and the entire club is fine with it. All the FAQs are on the GW site itself, which cannot be faked. You don't need to translate them either, as the entries look something like this:

Run a Chainfist on your Marshal instead of a Thunder Hammer IMO. Same cost but lets you seriously threaten everything.

AACNMTO doesn't seem like a very good oath choice for shooty Templars, as it'll force them into CC. Other than that, a fine list.

More typhoons please. Also less forge world and more antiflyer please.

I can't see the Dreadnought as reliable anti-flyer, as it's a single platform, plus it doesn't have Interceptor (unless I'm mistaken). So, Flyers get a free chance to smack it around the turn they come in, assuming that other stuff hasn't killed it already.

That said, at the moment there's very little that can threaten Flyers besides other Flyers. The fortifications help, but they are limited to one per detachment. Otherwise, the only other non-Forgeworld thing out there as far as I'm aware is the Hydra, which doesn't have Interceptor either.

So, I'd expect Flyers to dominate until new stuff comes out that spreads anti-air weapons around. I personally find the idea of facing a Necron Flyer list terrifying at the moment. I just don't see how you can handle the prospect of 6+ AV13 Flyers with most lists.

I believe Interceptors work on deep-striking units, a flyer will most likely come from its board edge, not deep-strike.
I agree with you about the dread being a single AA platform, but I think it would be fun to try anyway (I'm proxying at this time, might purchase later) and as you mentioned, short of buying a bunch of stormtalons or ADLs there aren't a whole lot of AA answers out there.
The necrons night scythes are AV11, not 13. Which means that with a good volume of fire they're not as invincible as they seem, you're bound to roll a 6 somewhere.
As far as the vows are concerned, I don't see much benefit to the other vows, so am gonna stick with AAC, which will boost the assault.

So Necron flyers don't have Quantum Shielding? If so, that's a bit of a relief.

Re-read the interceptor rule and they can be shot at anything coming in from reserve.
My best buddy has a Necrons army and as far as I know from playing him the night scythes are AV11. I do believe that they can shrug off a crew stunned or shaken result on a roll of a 4 or 5.

So I ended up using pods for the 2 initiate squads, and adjusted things a bit so as to get 3 typhoon land speeders.

Didn't get wiped but was left with 4 Termies by the end of turn 6.

My buddy brought 2 doom scythes and 2 night scythes, the contemptor hung in there til turn 4 but only shredded 1 doom scythe before losing all the hull points to a squad of immortals with gauss weapons that disembarked from one of the night scythes...
