To my knowledge they can only be used in a feral ork list. They cost some rediculous amount of money off Forge World. 300+ pounds? Also I think they are modelled off their old rules, though that isn't a huge problem. Rules are floating around in updates off certain GW sites.
Unfortunately it's an excellent model which makes you want to buy 1 though they're best run in 3's which would cost me 6 months wage.
Thus why most people custom build their own.

GW page, feral orks rules, their free.
Some people use random dinosaur models some of which actually work, also seen the hierophant used.
Squigoths are THE reason anyone would play feral orks over snakebites imo. (unless you REALLY want to use 120 madboyz snakebites are better)

I never understood why feral orks, who live in the wild, have a lower ws and a higher bs. I would love to use a sqiggoth, but then I could't use Battlewagons and Zzap Guns

The explanation that was told to me was that Feral Orks are uninitiated and are not part of a larger clan. So they do not know as much as other Orks about fighting and what not. It kinda makes sense... I guess giving them a squiggoth was enough for GW to limit thier melee abilities.

I really don't care what their reason is for anything. As long as the game is balanced then they can make up whatever crap they feel like to justify it. Being feral I can see why they may not have encountered many other 'people' who have forced them to develop superior fighting skills but yeah it still doesn't justify why they have a better BS. Either way I'm not losing any sleep over it.

GW's reasoning is that in the wild, feral orks have become acustom to hunting with rifles and such. Its not like you can really storm a deer with a choppa and hope to take it to da clan for suppa. Those that are good at melee are those that kick around all the rest and never needed a reason to be a good shot. Just make the weaker ones do it. IMO, a well constructed Feral Ork army would be something to see in battle, especially with a huge squigoth towering over the battlefield.

Moz:
You: "Hold on, you rammed, that's not a tank shock"
Me: "Ok so what is a ram, lets look at the rules."
Rulebook: "A ram is a special kind of tank shock"
You: "So it's a tank shock until it hits a vehicle, and then it's a ram, not a tank shock, and then it goes back to being a tank shock later!"
Me: "Yeah it doesn't really say any of that in here, how about we just play by what's written in here?" |

In IA update 2004 the super squigoth can be taken by any ork army. Although it is bigger and beefier than any squiggoth out there.

a damn shame that I already have about 5 heavy support units in my almost 3000 points army, and two Battlewagons waiting to get finished lying around here
