Hey guys I've been building a Death Guard army up over the summer and I'm of the opinion that CSM Lash princes have been nurfed pretty hard. I've turned to my terminators with typhus to glue my army together but I wanted to ask some more experienced CSM players what they thought about some of the more nuisance decisions.

First I wanted to ask if you guys thought he should deep strike or be driven by a LR. I'm inclined to deep strike him because that allows me to use the LR as a Heavy Ranged support or if I'm feeling CC as a way to drive up my Berserkers. I have thought though that if I wanted to use typhus for more powers I might want to drive him in my LR to give more support to the rest of my army.

Second I wanted to get your guys opinion on his psychic abilities. Should I stay with his original two or would swapping them out for chosen powers be better. If swapping them out would be better which brand/tree should I probably focus on? What tree have you guys found is best to take?

I'm kinda new to 40k but I really do love the game, thanks for any advice. Also if you want me to post up a list of what I have I can but it's pretty close to most competitive lists, minus a few obliterators.

Actually Lash got a bit more useful, with psychic hoods having WAY shorter range now. Eldar Runes can still bork you hard, though. also, transports are a lot worse, meaning you can expect more infantry on the board ready to be lashed.

If you want to DS Typhus, you need to either drop him when the rest of your army is also hitting the enemy line, or give him a powerful escort unit that can resist being focus-fired. Otherwise you will be sacrificing him after getting off a power and some shooting.

The big thing about his natural powers is that he doesn't even need to roll to cast them...but they are anothing to write home about. They are mostly horde-breaking powers.

Sadly CSM can't take biomancy (absurd as it is), so if you want to switch, Telepathy may be your best bet.

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.

He currently is rolling in a land raider with 4 terminators (current set up). But I was thinking of DS him with either 5 or 4 terminators (depending on points). I'm fine with his normal moves when I face hordes but I wanted to know about the more MEQ-y type armies. I was debating getting a sorcerer to either role with another plague marine squad to lash groups out into the open to take advantage of both solid charges or plasma spam. I do own 1 prince but he's been getting shot up way too early without making a real impact on the board.

I would deep strike him, just so you can take the holy number 7 for the unit. I try to make everything in my nurgle army in multiples of 7, its the principle damn it.(for vehicles I had to add a rhino to make it 7 vehicles as well)

I would look into the telepathy school. there are some very powerful spells in there, however not being able to use warp charge two spells really limits that tree.

Pyromancy is interesting and I would say everything but inferno is pretty awesome(if only it was a large blast *homer simpson gurgle*)

I think either of those trees is better than our base powers however.

Was mainly considering Pyromancy or Telepathy. I thought pyromancy might have too many wiffs to be worth taking. Has anyone had much sucsess using Pyromancy as a tree?

Typhus works great with some terminators since he gives them fearless, and don't forget about overwatching with winds of chaos, I've done 3 wounds to a charging demon prince with it in just the last game I played.

I thought you could only overwatch with guns, I thought psychic powers were limited to the phase they are allowed to be used in

You can only overwatch with guns, no psa's.

Noticed Typhus doesn't have psychic skill 1 so he can't cast invis. Leaning towards pyro for firey form/flame template so since you can direct if a little better than normal PSA.

Does anyone know if he can take two abilities? If his skill is only 1 can he still take two skills and just be able to cast 1?

You can overwatch as it's resolved as a normal shooting attack, minus blast and large blast can't be used. A PSA is a shooting attack. Template weapons just do D3 hits.

Also Typhus is mastery level 1, but per the FAQ may trade both his powers for 2 rolls on the new powers.

Chaos Space Marines can't take a Land Raider Spartan.

They can, ATCM is just being pedantic because it's technically "Spartan Assault Tank", not a Land Raider.
The rules are here in case you're in any doubt.
I'm not sure if it'd be worth it without Armoured Ceremite, but on the other hand 25 Khorne Beserkers running out of that and killing something would be glorious indeed just an expensive risk.

If you're planning on deepstriking, I would consider taking epidemius and some other nurgle goodness in an ally detachment . typhus plus other nurgle stuff in your CSM army count towards his tally.

They cost what, 50 points more than a standard land raider? But they have twice the firepower, +1 hull point and over twice the transport capacity. That sounds pretty good for 50points, only 20% more than a standard raider.

No way that spartan tank is legal, it's just way too good. Would I be able to use a land raider model as proxy if I wanted to use it in casual? I was thinking of running the allied nurgle daemons for how broken EP's tally is, but I want to wait for august to make sure I don't make a 50 dollar inevestment into something when they can just say, oops now plauge marines don't count as followers of nurgle herp derp.

It's legal and in casual games you can proxy anything you like.

I think its better and cheaper to take a Baneblade, take off the turret cannon(to be put on a rhino for a vindicator) and model up some quad las cannons. Its cheaper and looks more menencing than the real spartan.

I don't see anywhere that it doesn't get Armoured Ceramite. Are you sure it doesn't get the buff?

Also is this very new because I really haven't heard of it before and it seems like a beast. Of course around 150 for a single one might make me shy away from it and stick with a LR. God I hope they come out with US made forge world products.
