So I've been doing videos on Warhammer (now wargaming in general) and I've been a bit bogged down with painting lots of stuff that gets a little tedious after a while. So I've been having a bit of fun with some savage orcs that I'm going to send out.
I've been painting and playing since January this year so it's all still fairly new to me. They were a joy to paint though.

I'm going to make the gold and silver ones Olympic themed and make the spear look like the torch. Some were complete others still need some work but that's the general idea of them.

I think it's really helped break up the monotony of painting lots of the same model and I talk a bit about it in "getting motivated" video where I felt I was getting in a bit of a rut about it.

I hope you like the orcs or if you have any tips for some of the trickier colours feel free to post- thats the best attempt at yellow I've done so far but it still looks a bit grimey. And if you need some painting motivation those are my tips

Those are awesome!! While I think traditional themes can look good, unique armies are just that - unique. It is this part of the hobby that I love - the opportunity for artistic creativity.

And oh yeah, about keeping motivated and focused....yeah, a constant challenge....now, how many projects do I have?

Great vids, will have to follow...

Skittles.....

Would their catch phrase then be...

Taste the "pain-bow"??

In a fluff kinda way they could have grown from different fungi than normal.

Either that or their crackers over rainbow bright

A bit off topic, do you have a video of your wood elves? Ive always fancied them but the thought of painting those way watchers and scouts (which I want to use) kills me!

Inspiration would be cool!

Cheers!

I have many many videos on my elves! The paint job isn't as good but I've done a paint "tutorial" on a war dancer just for funnsies. I am not an amazing painter but it was good to try out as a video.

I need to get a video of the full army at some point but there are some pictures on facebook of everything. Dryads and treekin are fun to paint especially the raging heroes treekin.

Its strange seeing orks painted anything but green. I quite like the Purple one myself.

Quality! I'm such a bell... I should of seen you had posted from YouTube... I've sub'd and I'll check them out on my next day off!

To be fair, did you say you had only been painting since January?? Carry on like this and you'll have golden demons in no time! When I first started out my minis looked like crap (still do lol)

Good stuff!

This actually makes me wish I had painted the orks that I have red or blue instead of the normal green...maybe for my next batch

I did a video on combat resolution for warhammer wednesday - it's not to watch the whole way through if you don't want to but in it I have the complete unit of 20 orcs I have painted up if you skip about half way through and right at the end you can see how they look as a whole. Pretty colourful! Not sure whether it would look better as one unit of blue, one of purple, one of red and so on.

A few tips since I found I had a painter's block for a bit:
1) Well lit area: the dungeon basement has been changed I found with all the light I do not get sleepy past 1:00am (may be a bad thing).
2) Music! something for entertainment to keep the mind busy (angry music for angry models).
3) Agree you must have all things at hand, look at your station and try to fit it all in without being cluttered.
4) Max 10 models at a time, seeing the "Horde" causes a feeling of never getting it done.
5) Look at slightly better models than yours and try to get that feeling of "I could do better than that!".
6) Keep organization as something you do separately before you paint. If you leave something to fuss over, you will never get into the flow of painting.
7) Do not log into Dakka when you were thinking of painting earlier like I am doing now: GO! PAINT!

Really enjoyed the videos. Your paint looks really good. My only suggestion would be to get your work area organized. This efects my attitude when it comes time to paint.

Looks pretty good. An idea would be to mix green skin with the colors. IE one would have green and blue skin, another green and red, etc.

Basically make it look like they went insane with warpaint, and painted themselves all colors of the rainbow.
