I should be there on Sunday; going to try and meet with as many Art Directors as possible

Anyone else attending?

I'll be there. DP9's art director (not me!) should be at the DP9 booth much of the time as well. Bring a portfolio.

(Addendum: I have no idea if GenCon is a good time to try and show your stuff to an art director, and am no way saying said DP9 Art Director will appreciate "Please look at my drawings!" requests... )

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

I will be bringing a portfolio, and from a few artists working in the industry currently, I have been told that Gencon is the best place to go and meet with ADs; however probably not on Saturday, as I guess that is the busiest day. Friday and Sunday were suggested to me by an artist that has worked with FFG, catalyst, etc; of course I work Friday, but Sunday works well for me.

I'll check out DP9 a bit as well
Edit: oh hell yea, Heavy Gear. I remember playing this, heh.

Yah, my latter comment was mostly a CYA for myself that I don't want any art directors personally blaming me for issues.

I'll be at either the Mantic Games Booth selling Brushfire, or at the Mongoose Publishing Booth selling Historia Rodentia.

I may be going this year, but it is still up in the air as there might be some conflict. If I do make it I am hitting up a bunch of seminars for the most part.

Probably work

I'll be there. One of my friends is going to be doing some schmoozing with the KQ guys, so I'll probably be spending some time there.

Looks like I'll be there Saturday and Sunday now.

Should be a full and exhausting weekend.

Keep in mind that things close down early Sunday., so anything you have to see, try to do it Saturday. I think last time I went (2010) by SUnday a lot of people working the event were pretty exhausted.

I'm arriving Wednesday myself, then home Sunday afternoon.

Yea, I was told the ADs are pretty tired by Sunday, so getting them fresh would be better.

Gonna be leaving at like 3am on Saturday to get there early, lol. Will try and hit all the ADs Saturday, then maybe Sunday I can just look around and hit up the last few I missed.

I've usually lost my voice by that point in the con.

It is the best time to get a deal out of some folks, especially on big heavy things.

yeah, my friends I went with in 2010 have a picture of me from, I believe, Saturday afternoon where I look pretty exhausted from doing many hours at the DP9 booth. This is the second year I'm going and going as a 'combo' where I spend a few hours at the DP9 booth, but am also scheduled for some games and meals with friends, so it's an exhausting but extremely fun trip. I've already said I want to go next year and just do the DP9 stuff.

Good luck with the pitches Daedalus! With any luck you'll soon be drawing the things that us writers describe!

And I wish I could go to Gen-Con. I could hang out with the FFG guys and pretend to be important.

@ me!

It looks like I will be going, but sadly all 40k and WF RPG's are full up so just seminars atm for me. Going to try and work in a D&D Next Playtest game in at some point if I can.

Man, I can only hope.

Would be so awesome to just be able to draw 40k nerd stuff all the time, and actually be paid for it.

So ADB really likes this piece here: http://galefire.com/2012/08/trials-of-draigo-reforging-the-titansword/

Maybe if I'm super lucky I can do work for BL in the future; omg that would be so amazing.

FFG uses more art than BI!

Well, after the con, looks like I'll be working with A LOT of studios... including FFG! (and one that was mentioned in this thread, DP9!)

40k art yes!

I guess that depends on if the AD at FFG wants me to work on that stuff :p

so maybe!

Right now I am working on one of the iconic characters from Paizo; their AD wanted to make sure I could step out of my '40k' box, haha. I guess I do have a lot of it in my portfolio...

Its coming along pretty well, I think I may be doing a bit more detail than she suggested, heh.
