I did a few searches, but I admit I'm new and could have missed the thread.

I was thinking of doing a true scale Marneus Calgar, because the current model is old and cartoonish looking.

the base would be a chapterhouse kit, so I wouldn't be sculpting from scratch.

any input, helpful threads or mocking people want to share?

i haven't seen one as far as i can remember, but i can see the finished conversion in my head...
should be fairly straight forward...

i would use his Termie armour as the base...
the arms are perfect, the legs iconic, and the head is a seperate piece...
you could even use the front half of the torso now that he's finecast (should be easy enough to saw the Termie torso in half)...

my biggest beef with any of the truescale kits on the market are the straight greaves...
i like the flared shape of the legs on a Marine, and Marneus is the king pimp of the 40th millenium...
he should be rocking some bellbottom greaves!!!
not to mention, the Termie legs are blinged out like a mofo...

finally, you will be able to use him in GW stores and events, as he is made of GW parts...
win/win...

sounds like a fun project...
best of luck...

cheers
jah

For some bizzare reason i really want to collect Ultramarines now...

On topic. - Whats cartoonish about the current Calgar? I've always thought that was a pretty good scuplt.

i assume, when the OP says true-scale Calgar, he's talking about doing a power armoured version...
the old mini is a bit silly looking, just like Tycho or Mephiston...
i've done a modernized Meph, just finished Tycho, and have a plastic version of Dante on the go...
the 20 year old sculpts definitely benefit from the scale of the new plastics for new versions, especially when we all want to see new versions of old sculpts, like Ragnar...

using Termie Calgar to make PA Calgar should be pretty cool...

Yes I am talking about updating the original model, where he is in Space marine armour with the twin power fists (gauntlets of ultramar). I dont like the newer model of Marneus in terminator armour.
