So, at my local Games Workshop, no one is playing Allies! So I've been craving to see what other people's ideas, whether in practice or not, I'd love to hear your ideas and your opinions of others ideas.

Here, I'll start. IG penal legions being led by Space Wolf Battle Leaders in terminator arnor. You get two SW HQ choices for your one allied force org. Now your penal legion has ATSKNF and are being guarded by their SS wielding Wolf friend running point. And the Desperado special rule could give then Furious Charge and Counter Attack or Rending? Sounds fun!

Scarab farm, Guardsmen. Watch your opponent cry as you wreck his Land Raider with Lasguns (People said they wanted to see it happen, now it can!)

Pretre: OOOOHHHHH snap. That's like driving away from hitting a pedestrian.

Scarabs do 5 of their fancy shmancy attacks on a land raider. In the subsequent turn guardsmen shoot said land raider.

Personally my guard will now have nurgle allies. I'm not sure how tactically sound it is, but it fits my army's fluff.

Penal legions are not that great, then desperado does not transfer, see FAQ.
Try wolf priest(fearless) or wolf lord(ATSKNF) either with saga of the hunter(gives outflank and acute senses, then stealth!)
Also Rune priests now are so amazing for their psychic defence.

In fact I could imagine bring a Rune priest as allies with anyone apart from 'nids, chaos daemons and chaos marines.

I do like this thread, hope it becomes popular.

I like it. Sounds fun. IG have become a little town bicycley... everyone is just getting a ride.

First thank you. I too hope it get popular.

And while I'm not sure what your first sentence meant, you've raised a great point about the wild lord and the wolf priest. I wonder if I could work a wolf priest in my Thunderwing list.... Hmmmm...

Desperadoes isn't conferred to the Lone Wolf. Only the Legionnaires would get the benefits.

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

I've been wanting to take Lord Karsamov and a couple allied a couple of IG platoons.

Mostly because I've wanted to be able to shell my own troops since I started playing Imperial Guard.

Unfortunately since IG and GK aren't Battle brothers, I'm not sure if I'll be able to use Karsamov's special rule since it requires the blast to be placed over a friendly model.

Oh, I know desperado doesn't confer... but who cares? It's still a bad ass rule! And not the know none of that fear stuff!

And no... I don't think Karsamov's rule works. Which is sad.
