Hi guys!
I have been a 40K person since joining the hobby but want to try something new and do fantasy;
However I have no idea what armies to pick.
I first tried O&G but i didnt like the way it turned out. The first few games I played ended in utter failure And I never much enjoyed the painting side either (which is odd considering that i love painting 40K Orks)
So I sold them and moved onto Vampire counts. I've enjoyed playing with them but the models kept falling apart and repairing them was too fiddly.
I ask you this. Which armies can be moderatly competitive, Wont fall apart every 3 seconds and can be quite forgiveng tactically?
Thanks!

Woc strong they have great.models that don't fall appart. They are sturdy models and a pretty forgiving.
ogres would be.second second suggestion. few models.that are big and don't break easily not as forgiving as woc but still not bad. Automatically Appended Next Post: Woc strong they have great.models that don't fall appart. They are sturdy models and a pretty forgiving.

WoC is certainly a characterful army and somewhat cheap due to how elite the units are. A box of Chaos Knights for examples are $30-35 but even without upgrades they are a 200+ point unit.
Skaven are fun too and quite competitive, but you will need a lot of models but they are still somewhat cheap due to the IoB box.
Empire is also a good army, they are competitive and have a huge selection of different units and you can run many different themes with them. From my personal experience, they are fun to paint, but due to their flamboyant outfits, small size and high detail they are difficult army to paint, but I would still recommend them.
I would only say that there are two armies you should stay away from as a beginner and that would be Wood Elves and Bretonnians. Both are characterful armies in their own right and I know people who play both. However, they are a somewhat niche armies that focus on one aspect of battle primarily and therefore allow little room for error.

Skaven all the way, the little rat men, and all of their nefarious creations are a hoot to paint. That and they are quite competitive.

What is your play style? Do you like to shoot? Do you like hordes? Do you want an elite army? What models do you want to paint? Almost all of the armies can be forgiving if you know what you're doing. Just pick based on the models - for the most part, you can build a list around something in your force.

Warriors, Daemons or Beastmen or hell all 3 pick up that Forgeworld book Tamarakakakan or however it is spelled, all feature models on 25mm bases so durable figures. Don't believe the Beastmen hate they are fun, Primal Fury is the best army rule in the game and we get Doom Bulls.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

If your having a problem with your models falling apart maybe consider using another brand of glue. The new GW stuff (the thick one) is almost unusable in my opinion. I switched to the army painter stuff some time ago and haven't gone back.
As for what you should play, Warriors of Chaos are a solid pick. Easy to play, forgiving when you need them to be, and pretty much every unit in the book is solid. Plus they look great.

Daemons are great, you have Khorne who punches people straight in the face, nurgpe who sticks around forever, tzeench who offers magical support and I guess slaanesh lol
Ease of play: 10 your whole army never runs away or tests for panic and your all magical attacks and you have soooooo manyoptions for play style. Daemons are a great army
