Looking for basic, stone/metal/concrete walls. 1x4 or so. Can't find any sites online that have something like this unless it's part of a $$$$ kit.
Anybody else?

Why not build them yourself? there are plenty of ways to do so. I even think that there are an abundance of guides on the internet.

What you need is some polystyrene (long cuboid shape)
Use a utility knife and scrape the edges of the styrene - this will make it looked cracked. Next, cut up the polystyrene into small blocks which vary in size to however many you want. Then glue them on to a thin wood base (plywood) and build them up in whatever way you like. Finally paint them black and silver and add in grass tufts and sand if you want!
This tutorial is from Miniwargaming.com just search walls on YouTube.
Hope this helps :guardian:

Ya building them...not so much. Free time is an issue and the urge to do so...mostly the urge.
With all the terrain companies out there SOMEBODY has to make basic walls.

Go to a charity shop. Buy a cheap toy farm. Re-spray whatever shoddy plastic/wooden wall pieces come with it. Or alternatively just go to a local hardware store and buy some MDF of an appropriate thickness. It will even have the right texture for rendered timber or smooth concrete and isn't as fragile as polystyrene.

Try model railway stores?
Get them in plastic for less $$ than resin would be.
Plus scale on walls is less of a problem then say whole buildings.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!! |

What do you actually mean by walls?
Chooch make some really nice cut stone walls:
http://www.choochenterprises.com/
DPM makes some great brick walls:
http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/category/OModularSystem?tsort=default&rowsPerPage=1900&view=
Pegasus has some pretty nice walls (granted in kit form...but far from expensive):
http://pegasushobbies.net/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=gothic
If you are just looking for a textured covering (or something along those lines), there are lots of choices - one which has a good selection of stone, brick, concrete and metal is JTT through MRC:
http://www.modelrectifier.com/scenery/Architectural-Plastic-Pattern-Sheets.asp
Another option are the various castings used by model RR types. C. C. Crow makes some really nice ones out of plaster, I normally double them up (inside/outside face) for strength. If it is something that I think might get exceptionally rough handling - I will sandwich masonite between the two layers:
http://www.cccrow.com/main-pages/scratch-list.html
Less finely scaled, and more chunky monkey - you also have Hirst Arts. If you can't be bothered to cast your own - you can look at their licensed casters and purchase blocks and assembled parts through them:
http://www.hirstarts.com/links/links.html
You also have different parts and pieces sold through companies like Miniature Building Authority, ESLO and about a dozen others:
http://www.miniaturebuildingauthority.com/products.asp?cat=25mm+Terrain+and+Accessories
http://www.gelaendestuecke.de/onlineshop/index.php?cat=c11_walls--fences---barrier.html
To actually narrow things down though - you really need to be much more specific.

I don't see why one can't make his own simple walls. It won't take too much of your time, really: if you follow the miniwargaming link that can be done in 30 minutes, tops. You can also just cut foarmboards and pop them in a base.
