With the new fortifications and all, I've decided to add a Bastion into my regular list. However, GW has seen fit to only sell us the silly imperial bastion. Why would and Eldar/DE army use an Imperial bastion when ours probably look cooler and are, well.. ours.

My question is this. What sort of ideas does dakka have for making an Eldar or Dark Eldar bastion? I've seen some of the eldar themed buildings on the boxes all the kits come in but those are far too skinny. Does dakka have any ideas?

I was thinking of some sort of spire, looking something like an over-sized Bright Lance...

Dark Eldar can use spiky-towers.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Over-sized bright lance with spikes?

On a side note, it doesn't matter to much if it's eldar or DE seeing as I play DE with eldar allies now or vice versa

It is an interesting idea but I'll definitely have a wonderful time finding materials, regardless of the design.

I'm working on an eldar bastion myself. I've got pics and such in my plog.

I'm just trying to make a similar sized building to an imperial bastion, but adding the eldar flow and weapons and such. Hoping to get it done for a local tourney on the 18th of Aug.

Interesting, I definitely like what you've done so far.

Right now I'm messing around on google sketch up since I"m still debating if I want the building's base to be more circular or triangular

I'm going to be scratchbuilding a DE bastion an fortress.

I will be modeling these as a DE lander and a carrier 'super heavies', repredenting ships from an orbiting strike force.

Same could be done eldar fortifications.

This will allow me to have DE forts that fit in with the lightning-raid ethos.

Might want to take a look at the various PVC balusters, columns and posts that are available. There are a lot of pretty standard ones which would work the part (sort of look like gigantic bright lances) as well as some which are a bit more unique.

You also have column bases and caps which would provide a good starting point for things like the sky shield and the bunkers.

With it being PVC, you can cut it easily and it is light and strong. For things like floors and platforms, you can add those in using cellular PVC sheets (using PVC cement - you can fuse them in place as well).

While they are not the cheapest option - they really are not that expensive...especially given the latest price increases.

Well, I certainly like the idea of the space ship/bastion as it would be fitting considering the army.

As for materials, what you mentioned is where I've started my search.

I definitely like all the help. thanks all!

I too like the idea of a landing ship which counts-as a bastion. Makes sense that a mobile race would deign their landing ships that way.

Good luck with the PVC, but be warned it can be a pain to glue to polystyrene.
