What is better on BT Tank Hunting Termies? I know Cyclones were the best in 5th, but what is better now in 6th?

Clyclones will still be best. Neither weapon changed really, so no net shift.

The Clyclone still lets you keep your weapon arms free. The Assault cannon takes an arm. So you can still have your TH/SS and your Clyclone missile rack, or you can keep your stormbolter for more firepower.

I've always been a fan of the assault cannon, just because its fun to say I'm shooting you with my ass cannon.

Black Templar assault terminators cannot take cyclone missile launchers. You must be thinking of DW.

But as far as the choice between the two...

I like them both. They both have benefits that can be more handy in some spots than others. If you like sitting your terminators back, use the missiles. If you enjoy running up and unloading with tons of shots on an enemy with a chance to rend? Then use the assault cannons.

But in the end, assault cannons will be more deadly with rending and tank hunter. Throw in a chain fist for good measure, and that thing is nearly going to pen every time.

I say the donkey cannon is better in 6th because of prescience and flyers.

O, I wasn't aware the BT codex had a difference between assault and regular terminators.

Yep, Black Templars have normal terminators that can take shoot weapons and assault terminators that have th/ss or lightning claws. Death wing let's you take 5 man terminator units with th/ss plus one cyclone missile launcher.

Tank hunter assault cannons are the best unit that BT have to crack av13 and av14. Thanks to the new reroll tankhunter system, not sure if you can reroll the d3.

Then they have turn 1 drop pods now and battles always start turn 1, so assault cannons can drop by the enemy and get killing.
They will be all right at overwatch and should survive well enough in cc with termy armour.

The CML is very good, but more if you plan to stand back and shoot. Especially as ap3 missiles have gone up in value since the downgrading of cover and wound allocations.

Two different roles, depending on if you want to be in the enemy's face or not.

So would it be fair to say, run 1 Assault Cannon, and 1 Cyclone ML in a terminator squad for a mixed type of support? Or is it just best to run 2 of the same?

I had this same questiong about which one to take. I mean, what are your odds of getting a rend with the assault cannon anyways? (IIRC a rend is a penetrating hit?)
