okay, i got a handle on pretty much most concepts in the new book except snap fireing, i know the hit on 6's part, but because i am learning impared, idk if there is anything more to it like if i have 10 marines 5 can hit normally with rapid fire bolters but the other 5 cant, can they snap fire 1shot at the maximum.

yes, they are treated the same way as your normal firing phase, except a 6 is required to hit. So you still take in to account range and such.

Why can't the other 5 marines hit normally with rapid fire weapons? The only reasons part of a unit would not be able to fire would be if they are a) out of range or b) don't have line of sight and you wouldn't be able to snap fire in either of those situations.

Basically it set up like this (A is Assaulting unit, S is Space Marine with Bolter): AAAAA ...^ ...| ..11" ...| ...v SSSSS ...2" SSSSS (sorry for crap diagram). The front row of Space Marines are within double tap range and so would get to fire 2 shots. The back row is within range but not double tap range and would only get 1 shot (each).

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Sorry i didnt specify, im not talking about units and snap firing in overwatch, i understand that concept im talking about if those 5 marines can snap fire 1 shot at thier maximum in there normal shoting phas if they cant do the full rapid fire at 12'' using thier full bs.
oh and since im a avid user of 1k sons since they arer slow and purpose full in a simular situation if half the squad cant rapid fire at 12'' the ohter can still use thier full bs with shots at 24''

The five marines at the back wouldn't need to snap fire. They would fire a single shot at full BS.

Snap fire in the shooting phase only happens with moving and firing Heavy Weapons (unless you're relentless).
So you can always move and fire rapid fire weapons with your full BS, regardless of range, single or double shots.
