Using some Dark Angel models with robes in my SM army. Trying to think of a good color for the robes. The armor is a dark grey. I was thinking about a dark red.

A nice deep red could be nice, A grey power armour would be close (just a non metallic version) of these guys

Are there any colors on the armor? Is the entire color scheme dark grey or is there another color involved?

Blue or even purple could look really good. Dark grey is an easy color to go with other colors.

if you have a grey armor you can use a whole range of colors for the robes... black, red, green, cream, purple, blue... you name it and it will probably look good

I'll agree with everyone else that the sky is your limit, but I'd think that rather than doing the entire robe in a bright color, I'd think doing most of it in a more subdued color and picking out details or edging it with a brighter color may be a better way to do it. This way, you get to draw some attention without having something sticking too far out of the rest of the army.
