Given the depths of Paterno' and Penn State's failings in this issue, it is right to remove that statue.

This doesn't fit into any predictable rules or old situations to compare it to, and were it almost anything else, I'd say this was a silly gesture. But given the sheer audacity of Penn State's handling of the situation, there is no excuse. Statue's gotta go and the legacy of one of the great coaches in college football is irreparably tarnished.

Reading through the stories about this, I can't believe how many people are still defending this man. It's sickening, imo.

They should have just turned it around, so it could continue looking the other way in perpetuity.

There is a mural of Penn State notables that featured Paterno with a halo painted over his head. The artist painted over the halo and put a blue ribbon on Paterno's chest to symbolize Paterno's "concern" for child abuse victems.
