Given the depths of Paterno' and Penn State's failings in this issue, it is right to remove that statue.
This doesn't fit into any predictable rules or old situations to compare it to, and were it almost anything else, I'd say this was a silly gesture. But given the sheer audacity of Penn State's handling of the situation, there is no excuse. Statue's gotta go and the legacy of one of the great coaches in college football is irreparably tarnished.
