Evening all,

I used to play 40k in my teenage years but gave up when 3rd ed came out. The new rules were such a huge departure from what I was used to, and I could barely afford to get any models, let alone a new boxed game!

So a few of months back, a couple of friends and I began to indulge our geeky side a little bit and began sneakily picking up necromunda gangs on ebay.. it was only a matter of time until our girlfriends found out and our filthy little secret burgeoned into a full-scale addiction again. I've picked up the 2nd ed boxed game, Dark Millenium and every 2nd ed codex off ebay and we've been heartily indulging in nostalgia.. which has eventually led me to this wonderful website.

I've mellowed a bit as I've aged, and my conservative attitude towards learning a new set of rules isn't as rigid as it was, so in the name of being able to play with other people, I want to get stuck into a contemporary version. Luckily for me I've dipped back into the hobby just as a new ed is launching, but I'm still not quite prepared to fork out £45 for a rulebook so I'm going to wait until the boxed game comes out - hopefully that way I can get some decent scenery or at least models to auction off for my hefty investment.

So - onto the guts, I'm building an ork army from ebay, I'm still a bit heavy with nostalgia so I keep buying models that I don't think I can even field in a modern ork army, but hey - I guess I'll find that out in due time eh? I'm a bit of a hopeless painter, but gradually improving a little - and hopefully I can start to channel my enthusiasm from blazing money on old models I can't afford, into improving the mountain of grey plastic I've already bought!

Any thoughts you have about my silly model choices so far are much appreciated, I'll post a diary of my progress so far, as I say I started getting back into things a few months before I discovered this site, so I've made a little bit of progress, albeit poor quality!

Oh, and hi everyone, here's some shots of me and my chump friends rediscovering the all consuming life ruiner that is 40k:

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome fellas!

I've just started an army blog, think I'm going to have to work overtime on learning 6th ed and putting together a codex-legal force!
