Subject: Can you tank shock Allies of Convenience / Desperate Allies?

See topic.
The allies rules say that "Allies of Convenience (and Desperate allies) are treated as enemy units that cannot be charged, shot, targeted with psychic powers, or have templates or blast markers placed over them."
Does this mean that if I needed to move one of my tanks through an "enemy" allied unit, I could tank shock through it?
What say you, Dakka?

Seems legal to me....
....which brings up the question of can your "enemy" allied units do a death & glory against your own tank. Lol.

While tank shock is not specifically mentioned in the list of things you can't do to allies, I think it's reasonably clear that the idea is for them to be treated as un-attackable enemies. As such, while the rules currently don't seem to specifically prohibit tank shocking them, I would fully expect that it will be disallowed if GW FAQ it.

I don't have the rulebook in front of me but does the tank shock rule use the word attack? I thought it just said when you come into contact with an enemy model(wich those ally selections are classified as) you perform a tank shock. Very interesting interaction.

well, in WHFB, allies like that just weren't able to target them but you could still hit them if you unleash a spell that hit every enemy withing range and such. I wonder if that applies to any situations in this game as well with things like Dark Eldar Chain Snares on Vehicles.
I know that if some desperate allies of mine drove a tank at me I would react like it was any enemy tank.

No, the tank shock is not an attack.

No, the tank shock is not an attack.
But the tank's mass is a weapon.
