Hey gurus:

With the new squadron rules, it seems like you could choose not to abandon your immobilized buddy then use the model to absorb some shots by keeping the immobilized model as the closest model to your foe but still maintaing unit coherency. UNLESS the squadron models have different cover saves (which would allow for focused fire).

Just a tactical question I thought of... thoughts?

This would be a fine tactic for things that don't need to move necessarily to be effective, such as the Leman Russ with a battlecannon range that can reach out and touch pert near anything & a lascannon with a 4' range, it's not real often that it'd be out of range of much. The good part about the new squadron rules also though is that you can leave it behind and it doesn't get wrecked by being left, it just becomes a separate unit, so Kans are even more survivable by that: if you can afford to just sit there and shoot back, you're still all together, but if you need to move in & assault, the straggler can either provide cover fire or fire at something else entirely.
