As the title says, I need to know what size drill bit for my pin vice to drill out bolters and other weapons.

Bolters and Bolt Pistols?
Storm Bolters?
Meltaguns?
Plasma Guns?
Plasma Pistols?
Assault Cannons?

What do you recommend? Thanks in advance!

I recommend that you get a set that has from 0.1mm to 2mm.
Only cost about £10 in UK so not that expensive (IMO).
Then you'll have all you need for every senario.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

1mm drill bit should do nicely for most infantry weapons. You might need a 2mm bit for heavy bolters and autocannons though.

Have fun drilling out an assault cannon....

Also - it might just be me, but I find that with certain things it is just easier/faster/more consistent to snip the barrels off and replace them with styrene or brass tube - so grabbing an assortment of that can be handy as well.

A little goes a long way - so don't worry too much about cost. You can do an entire chapter's worth of bolters with a single package of Evergreen tubing.

Just go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy the Dremel drill bit set. I think I paid $10 or $12 for it and you will also need a set of Dremel collets to go with it. Off the top of my head, I think I use the 1/32" bit for bolters. Also, make sure you use a hand drill because a power drill spin too fast and you'll melt the plastic.

Side note: I see you are in Warrenton, VA... I also live in the NOVA area (Leesburg, to be precise). I don't know what you have in the way of shops up in your area, but there is a great independant shop right on Route 7 between Leesburg and Ashburn called Huzzah Hobbies. You should check it out if you ate ever around, the owner Chris is a stand-up guy who is passionate about the hobby.

I got one of the numbered sets (#61-80), but only a few of those ever see the light of day. A single 1/16" bit would've done me for pretty much any given infantry weapon. 1/16" leaves relatively thin walls on a slugga or a bolter, though, so make sure to poke a starter hole and keep it centered.

I use 1mm for assault cannon barrels, 1.5mm for boltgun barrels, 2mm for heavy bolters...
As others say you will want a bit of a selection
