The traditional red scheme looks awesome, striking even, but I sorta want to reimagine my berserkers. Try something different. A bone-colored (with red and brown highlights) tyranid paintjob I saw looked good, but I'm not sure what metals would look good with it as tyranids are mostly organic.

Thoughts? Other color scheme suggestions? Should I just go with the traditional colors? I like the dark blue and lightning of the Night Lords (and their terror fluff), but not the bat themes. Would it be tacky to use Berserker stats and models with Night Lord colors?

NOTE: I don't have any paints at the moment, so I can't do tests until I have paint. I don't want to buy all the paints (well, I do, but I'm not going to). So I'm trying to make a good decision before I buy.

The idea of washed-out Berzerkers sounds pretty cool; gives them a distinct look over other guys armies, which I think is a boon.

My own Berzerkers (and my 1k Sons) have (or, will be, when I find the time) been painted the same colour as my normal CSM marines (washed out greys and blacks with bronze highlights, looking real beaten and battered), except for the helmet and left shoulder pad; these have been painted in the traditional colours of Berzerkers (and 1k Sons); this gives a striking look, both blending into the colour theme of my own army, but retaining their noticable paint schemes associated with those units.

I love the schemes of Berzerkers, don't get me wrong, it really fits their role; I just hate seeing everybodies armies painted the same, no individualism, no customisation, nothing but the usual drudgery (and this is in no way an insult to anybody who uses the traditional colour schemes!)

I say go for it. Limit the metal to the weapons and certain stand-out paints; I'd paint the key areas of the armour the bone colour, then detail with assorted red/brown's, then touch up with some dull bronze so it doesn't wash out the other colours too much.

Thanks LordofRust. I like the idea of incorporating the traditional color scheme on helmets and shoulder pad. I was actually struggling the most trying to envision a white Berserker helmet. Your way circumvents that nicely.

Brass armor with black trim and bone helmets. A healthy splattering of gore to incorporate some red.

Its your money, so paint them however you want. The universe in 40k is unfathomably huge. So a Khorne warband could have painted their armor any color.

Alternatively, using them as count as depends on your local group. I get away with using "berserkers" as Iron Warrior assault veterans.

All good ideas. I clearly need to take some thought. In looking around, it seems the pre-heresy World Eaters had white armor with blue accents. I could make a band that has (as was suggested) white with red accents. Or just go all Night Lord on it... berserker helmets with lightning on them would look pretty rad. Guuhhh... I'll just assemble and convert for now, wait on the Codex and see what happens then.
