so im wondering how an ogre army can take down a khornate daemons list.

the list in question runs a ton of bloodletters, attached heralds, and has some seekers on the flanks.

those bloodletters are SCARY for ogres....they have higher init, 4+ ward, str 5, T4, armor piercing (i think). they hit my ogres on 3+ wound me on 3+ and bypass any armor at all. and they go first, have a 4+ vrs my impact hits or other attacks, wich i cant reduce from high str, so IG are just more expensive versions of bulls... and they move pretty fast to boot.

example:(i charged a unit of 20 blood letters in the front with an 8man bull squad, and the side with 4 mournfangs, he slaughterd the mournfangs, and all but 2 bulls in the first round...and i dropped 3 total, (2 from mournfang impact) lost combat rez and was massacared)

anyway, im just wondering how to deal with these.i dont think a ranged attack would work too well, since again that 4+ ward pretty much stops anything, and most shooting is 24" so i would get at best 2 volleys before being charged. the only thing i can think that *may* work, is screen with trappers, blast away with cannons and leadbelchers, then charge with a thundertusk or 2 and some mournfangs with that ASL aura.

Yah, only Horrors with Herald have 4+. General daemons are all 5+. Bloodletters rip face on just about everything but have a harder time vs. Ogres. They are infantry so you can stomp them, too.

You have fear which negates their fear, you're MI so they can't KB you. I believe ogres + fist beats bloodletters on cost.

Scraplauncher can KB them pretty well. Thundertusk can make everyone ASL.

Get the Dragonhide banner and splooge them, giving them a round of ASL.

But really, just a whole lot of regular ogres should do the trick. Grab a butcher since it doesn't sound like he will have much magic to stop you. Toothcracker/Trollguts can help. So can the breath weapon on a Firebutt.

maybe there is a banner or something that improves ward save? he was def taking 4+ wards on his bloodletters.

dragon hide banner is next on list of purchase for the MF, and i think a thundertusk will make things go easier as well, plus be a decent add on for some ranges support.

No, there is not, though it is possible that he was taking a Loremaster Life Herald of Tzeencth which, if he got Throne of Vines off would make Earthblood a 4+ regen if he cast it on the bloodletters.

No... Squad was blood letters with command, attached herald, and that was it. Some seekers on the flank, but no other characters. I will check and clarify with him,but looks like he was pulling my leg with the ward save

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

All daemon core units are actually surprisingly squishy.

Bloodletters don't have their Killing Blow ability against us and so only have their Str5 going for them. A T buff will really hurt them, Regeneration also screws them really bad.

The same with Daemonettes.

Only Pink Horrors are any kind of durable, but their melee ability is meh.

The real danger with Daemons is magic.

If you don't have flaming or easy access to it, a Nurgle list with Epidemius will absolutely wreck Ogres. When they start poisoning on 4+ it's over.

Greater Daemons can also be devestating. A Greater Unclean One could potentially take on a bazillion Ogres. But he'd be insanely expensive and vulnerable to Ironblasters.

Khorne may be the best matchup for the fatties. Maybe Slaanesh. And it sound like that list has both.

Yea....so how to bet them? ASL effects, massed charges, or shooting? What about baiting them with trappers and forcing DT? Then countering?

Just make sure he isn't intentionally cheating and you shouldn't have a problem bro, your also entitled to ask where it says they have a 4++, and their stat line can't be hidden

Talked it over with the Khorne player, and it turns out he misread the herald rules, and was using the tzeentch rule where an attached herald adds to the ward save. He apologized, we played a rematch using his proper rules. The game was closer but he still wasted me. I guess he had not played daemons before, (this is league game) and he was trying to adjust to new rules and army.

To his credit, he informed the mods, and scheduled rematches of his previous games with those scores nullified from the books. He also issued apologies to everyone in person. So kudos to an honorable move in response to a mistake.

Don't forget The Other Tricksters Shard on that killy character. T3 is their weakspot and with bloodletters it's all about surviving the first combat, once they lose hatred they become a lot easier. Maybe go in with a small frontage for steadfast then reform, or a bus of gnoblars then hit them in the flank the 2nd round of combat. If he takes large blocks or hordes then redirect with saber tusks. Be glad he isn't using Skulltaker he rapes ogres.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd
