It has been stated that librarians (the BA old choice of cost) are falling out of favor due to the aspect of challenges, given there meh combat abilities and being 3+5++ (there is a priest in the area, always is for me)... however with Look Out Sir! and say a squad or Sanguinary Guard, or even better assault terminators can I negate this downside of the librarian?

you can always decline a challenge.
if not have your sergeant accept it for you.

if you are really worried you can give him terminator armor for 2+/5++ and 5+FNP goodness.

If anything it seems that people are now spending more points on the librarians making them epistolaries.

Backing out of challenges, he is even better boost to his unit/army, especially as a few of the other boosts have been slightly weakened like who needs fearless anyway when you can autoregroup despite the enemy being near.

Making challenges, he can try to instant kill or just powerweapon bad guys to death. If it isn't such a big risk or the risk is worth it.
