Hey Dakka, I remember reading somewhere that during a battle with a massive WAAAGH! an ork warboss very nearly killed the Emperor, but Horus intervened to save him. I can't remember if this was Ullanor, Blackfang's WAAAGH!, or the Beast's WAAAGH! Anybody recall when/where this happened?

That's what I assumed, but I couldn't find a source for him nearly breaking the Emperor (which I'm sure I heard happened). Do you know of any such source? Of course, my memory might just be leaking...

I don't know, I got it off of a minor forum's download page. Don't remember where though.
I believe the rules are fanmade though.

yup, if you zoom in it seems to be fan made, not a proper sheet.
plus the writing doesn't sound like GW's background- it'd say "thousands" or "tens of thousands" instead of 100,000

The actual fluff is accurate on that document, the same account is given in Horus Heresy Collected Visions. Custodes wiped out 100,000 Orks in several minutes at the loss of 3 of their own.

It's like the Angron rules that were shown recently, even though that ork was QUITE badass and I'd honestly love to see him on the tabletop.

Fanmade, there isn't this much information on this guy and his only mention I think is in the Visions stories for the Sabretooth game.
And the figures on the dead orks is a legend, the story actually says as much.
And the actual Ork in question is not this dude, it's this guy mentioned in the Luna Wolves Index Astartes
On the Ork-infested planet of Gorro, Horus repaid the debt by hacking the arm from a huge, frenzied Greenskin warlord as it struggled to choke the Emperor's life out of him.

Well, they deployed from the Emperor's personal Battle Barge from low orbit. It's possible that thing opened up with a giant orbital bombardment on the Orks.

Well, Angron actually has a set of official rules for Appoc. This ork is definitly a fanmade creation, although Appoc is designed for fanmade datasheets.

I like to think that it wasn't a Warboss but rather a simple Ork boy who caught the Emperor by surprise while his armor was malfunctioning and he was pinned beneath the corpses of all the others Orks he'd slain. Too exhausted to simple disembowel the Ork physically, he could only writhe impotently as the his face turned a more blueish shade. Just before the Ork could finish him off, Horus came in and kicked his green arse.
EDIT: To clarify, yes I know this is fan spank.

Here's the story about Gharkul from Collected Visions.
The Primarchs Horus, Rogal Dorn and Mortarion and their Legions were vastly outnumbered and close to defeat when the Emperor led an assault from his golden battle barge, the Bucephelus. At the head of a thousand Custodians, the Emperor struck at the very heart of the ork horde, confronting Gharkul atop a towering Gargant. As the Emperor decapitated the giant black-skinned ork, the Custodians laid waste to the warlord's prime warriors. It is said that within moments over a hundred thousand greenskins died and the Waagh! was broken.
And it then goes on to say
Legend has it that only three Custodians fell at the battle, their names enshrined forever, engraved on the Emperors armour
So it doesn't necessarily mean that only 3 fell, it could have been 103, but for a legend 3 sounds better.

The Custodes can go into One on One with a Primarch in sparring matches, and survive. Only 3 died.

A Space Marine can go into a sparring match with a Primarch, doesn't mean they are going to do that well, and survive.
Lots of those have died.

Other than some poor writing in a few places, that's a pretty cool datasheet.
Before the Crusade there must have been a lot less competent enemies to face, so this Ork probably kicked butt and conquered planets for decades or even centuries without facing a real threat like a Primarch. In theory, Orks could keep growing indefinitely as long as they continue to beat their opponents, so an ork empire left alone long enough could grow another monster like this guy.

I'm sure there is a simillar story about the victory vs the greenskins at Ullanor. In Horus Rising I believe that Loken says that the Emperor and Horus lead the Justaerin in to kill the warboss and only the Emperor Horus and Abaddon walk away from the fight. Don't quote me on this though as its been yonks since I read it.
