so what do yall think of having a archon with shadow field in front of a unit of gretusques and having them fortuned with the farseer so to kill them you have to get past a rerollable 2+

Sucks.

If you're footslogging: 400 - 500 point non-scoring slow unit. Just ignore them and kill everything else. They will never make their points back.
If you're in a transport: Well, the Farseer can't use DE transports. So you'd have to buy him a Serpent, which will raise the cost of the unit to about 600 points. Now the Farseer can be singled out. Kill the Serpent, kill the Farseer, no more Fortune. Also it limits the number of Grotesques to 4, which isn't that scary to begin with.

You can't Fortune a Dark Eldar unit.

I second Code here. Too many eggs in one basket. The unit is too slow. After all, footslogging is a slow way to die.

well i was considering it as a addition to a wraithguard list so everyone would be walking it would be a 6 man unit with a farseer and a archon.

Well, large and tough walking units with wound shenanigan seem to become popular these days, at least theoretically.
Frankly, a mech Eldar army is still viable and allows the transported units to get everywhere at the battle field.

Not true. "Eldar" and "Dark Eldar" are different things. For instance, Vect rerolls to wound against Eldar and Dark Eldar, but the two factions are specified as different entities in the rule.

Well actually one eldar unit means a unit from codex eldar. A unit from codex dark eldar is not an eldar unit really ruleswise.

But the way i see it is unless theres been a FAQ on it is that its used on a eldar unit and by all means a dark eldar unit is a eldar unit.

Fluffwise you would be correct. Eldar and Dark Eldar are both Eldar, but ruleswise, as sad as it is, Dark Eldar are not Eldar. Basically what is counted as an Eldar unit for rules purposes is what is found from Codex Eldar even if it was actually a three headed cat with bat wings.

Thats all well and good till someone flies a skimmer or flier round behind the unit and the wound allocation happens from the other side first, very quickly you will find yourself with just the archon left I think.


Alternatively, using Harlequins with said combo would be much more effective I think personally, yet as said before its a huge point sync and the wound allocation exploitation is easily removed by fast moving vehicles or units.

well in the list id be using maybe i could buy 4 powers with the farseer roll on the rulebook chart and go for the power that gives a 4+ invul so i have 6 big grotusques with 3 wounds apiece and a 5+ feel no pain againstalmost anything thats not strength 10?

Oh. Noticed one thing. You need a Dark Eldar troop choice to use them as allies.

2 wraithlords with ML scatter laser
archon shadow field and a weapon of some type
5 kabalite warriors
and 6 grotusques

Why not consider 1 or 2 haemonculi with the grotesques instead of an archon?
You loose the bullet magnet but can start the game at full pain tokens.
With feel no pain and T5 they won't be taking so many wounds.
I feel the farseer is a little overkill but if over 30 dice on the charge just isn't enough then it isn't enough.

It would also let you power a wraith squad with the farseer if you want codex powers.
And I'd change the kabalites to wracks, just cause I can :p

Chaos Space Marines are not Space Marines...

All the FAQs that have come out thus far have ruled that "an Eldar Unit" is something from Codex Eldar.

It would be nice but it wont work.

Now 10 wraithguard are scoring, can shoot, and count as troops. They also are an Eldar unit so they can be fortuned. Their 3+ saves is a lot better than Grots 6+ so all the better to be rerolling it. Also they are T6 so making it harder to wound them in general.

I like the Gortesques unit idea better. The Farseer can't use Fortune on them, but he can use rulebook buffing powers. Even Prescience, the default Divination power, for re-rolls to hit against everything is darn good.

if id roll for 4 powers i could probably get the 2 for the 4+ invul
and swap the another for the re rolls to hit so it would be
