I went to Army Lists, to no avail thus far. I'd love some help with this, any you guys can offer. I have no knowledge of Space Wolves, but I'd like to put together a coherent, competitive list with them, so my request is as follows:

So I've found myself signed up for a rather important 1850pt tournament coming up, which leaves me in need of a competitive list. Hearing some fun hype, and already having a solid 1000-1250 pt gunline list for guard, it seems the logical route would be to include Space Wolves for the extra points. Following is the guard stuff I intend to field, though it is anything but set in stone.

CCS
-Plasma Pistol+PF
-Regimental Standard
-Vox Caster
-Lascannon

PCS
(Either)
-4x Flamer
-Chimera
(or)
PCS (BiD target)
-LC

Infantry Squad x3
-Commisar
-3x Flamer
-3x Lascannon

Veteran Squad
-Plasmagun x3
-Chimera (ML/HB)

Veteran Squad
-Meltagun x3
-Chimera (ML/HB)

Aegis Defense Line

Things being considered:
2x Vendettas/Valkyries
Quad-gun or Comm's relay for the Aegis

However, I have virtually no knowledge of Space Wolves, barring that they pair very well with Guard, so I would love any suggestions you, Dakka, have for me.

Many thanks,
-The Captain

I would recommend a Rune Priest for your mandatory HQ (for psychic offence/defence), 2 squads of Grey Hunters for your Troops and a squad of 5x Missile Launcher Long Fangs. For the other 2 FOC slots, consider Thunderwolf Cavalry for Fast Attack and perhaps some Wolf Guard to act as squad leaders for the Grey Hunters.

Why do you want wolves if you know nothing of them? What do you want them to do for you, which I guess is hard as you have no idea what they can do for you?

At least give idea of how you intent to play and what is your style.

Above all else, I've heard Wolves supplement the IG gunline-style quite well, and that is my preferred method of play.

They also just seem like they'd be a solid compliment to any static force, especially one that falters in melee combat.

I would switch out the flamers in the IS for plasma. Switch the LC for AC. Add another squad. You will see why in a minute...

Drop the vets, and add some guard HS. I prefer LRBT and/or Demolishers, but YMMV. Put a bodyguard or two in your CCS, as it becomes a big target due to the Warlord VP. You want survivability. Not sure why you have the Standard, but that is your call. I like the MoO to go with the LC. You can't go wrong with Vendettas, and the Quad gun is just about the best 50 points you can spend.

Now, I run something similar, and I take the following as my minimum SW contingent:

Rune Priest
Terminator Armor

5 man GH squad x2
Meltagun
Razorback with TL-LC.
(These guys replace your vets.)

Have the Rune Priest take Diviniation, and the Prescience ability. Put him with the blob behind the Aegis line. If you make your rolls, you can make every shot twin linked. Add your guard orders for FRF/SRF or FoMT. Imagine all those lasgun shots twin-linked. Your Overwatch is twin linked too. The RP can take challenges too, I took out a Necron Overlord with him.

If you want and have the points, you can add 5 WG, two of them to run with the GH and the other 3 in TDA as a counter-assault unit. Since you have five, you can take a heavy weapon, like a Cyclone or assault cannon. Finally, you can take Long Fangs and put them with the Quad gun behind a small piece of the ADL.

The SW/IG synergy is the best, imho.

Any particularly good way of kitting out WG, Longfangs, and the Rune Priest?
