Recently I bought a bunch of Marines, the issue I am currently having is that they have the shoulderpads for: Ultramarines, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Imperial Fists, and Black Templars. So what on earth should I do to make it look like a unified force. Or should I just go lazy and say its a mixed force from a crusade?

I'd say go for a Deathwatch theme if you can.

Paint them all purple.

Failing that... are they just painted, or do they have molded on detail?

Well deathwatch may cost me a fair bit in shoulder pads (If I'm going to do them I'm going to do them with actual DW shoulderpads). And this may just be knit picking, but it looks like with that it would bring many Blood Angels (50%) with the other chapters in the other half.

If you decide to do one, just file off the rest and youre good to go, or buy blank shoulders and pop the used ones off and sell them on the cheap (i are ultramaires, ill buy!)

Death Watch could cost a penny if you use the actual sholders that's for sure, but even using blanks with painted on Inquisition insignia it'd be undeniably awesome.

Just do this.

If you don't want to do Deathwatch (who are the best Sternguard counts-as I can think of) just pop the shoulderpads off and keep the one chapter you would want to work with.

if you have the bits for shoulders but dont like the insignias on them, scratch em off.
