Lost in the Warp

So I was looking at slowly building up an Elysian Droptroop army, which can interchangeably be used as henchmen squads for my Grey Knights army. The problem is, I'm staring at the sprues now and realizing that the lasguns are attached to hands, attached to arms. I've borrowed 1000_Sons' picture for demonstration here:

Now, I'd like to be able to interchange these lasguns with bolters (for use as Acolytes) or with special weapons. The problem is, I don't want to chop up the perfectly-good bullpup lasguns (which I find quite attractive, really, as an ex-Army guy!) just to do that.

The two issues I have are:
1. Is there a good way to separate the guns from the hands/arms?
2. How should I attach the various weapon loadouts to the hands?

One idea I've been playing around with is to slice off the gun at the trigger (keeping the hand with the trigger) and tediously cut the other arm holding the foregrip, and using small amounts of blue-tack to stick on various guns.

Anyone toyed around with this before or encountered a similar problem?

an approach I've seen work well for termies is to cut the weapon arm at the elbow or upper arm and do your magnetizing there. that keeps the entire weapon and hand intact. granted, termies don't use 2-handed weapons so it's a much simpler operation than what you're trying to do here.

if you can get a second set of arms that have the alternate weapons you want, you could glue the arms to the weapons and then magnetize the armpits/torsos to make them swappable. might need to do some pinning where the arm and wrist are glued together to make it strong enough for gaming use. sounds like a lot of work, though. personally, I'd opt for a second set of models

Well depending on how literally handy (oh snap~) you are with green stuff.

Either remove the hand/arm as much as possible and resculp those. Or use some thing iron wire and build a new arm I don't think you can use parts of the hand (or gun for that matter) without chopping something up.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

So after inspecting the sprues a little closer, it might be possible to just glue on the shoulderpads and magnetize at the arms. Hm. It's going to be a flimsy fix, but it might work...

This then requires me to get a second set of arms for the alternative weapons, however. I did notice (and confirm) that Elysians are closer to 28mm scale, and thus are smaller than usual.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get a set of arms similar in size to these? Sticking Cadian arms makes it look kinda oddly oversized...

Could take a look at the mantic corporation? theyre very similar to elysians (lol) so the arms might interchange fine, as being cheaper you wouldn't feel as bad chopping them up to add bolters to

Thanks a lot, Bobug! Will definitely look into that!

I did try patching on some of the Cadian/Catachan arms... They don't look too bad, since the shoulderpads cover the joints, and kinda makes them look buff. lol. Proportion-wise.. Hmmm.
