I have one dakkajet and I think it's pretty awesome. It gives me the trasport killing power I was lacking in my KoS list but I have this problem with maneuvering flyers. Usually when jet arrives from reserves it might get a turn or two of shooting and then it's either off the board or spending two turns on turning around.
How do you use your flyers? How often you get to shoot with them (assuming you are zooming)? How many flyers you have?
My usual gaming tables are roughly 48x48" big so there is no long table edge or short one.

Can't you move the minimum 18" for zoom and turn 180' in two turns?
I have a Valkyrie and I usually get 3 turns before it gets shot down by enemy air.

It's a matter of making sure you turn the flyer at least a little each game turn. I usually have my SR go up the side of the board then turn at the end of it's movement to shoot at it's target, instead of just going straight for it.

This is illegal, you can only turn at the start of your move.

Generally, I have my Flyers enter from further down the side of my board edge. So then on its second movement phase it can turn and strafe the entire enemy line.
Use the range on its weapons to full advantage. Supa-shootas have a 36" range IIRC, use it. Even if its just 24" thats still a good range. You don't need to be shooting at point blank range.

This is true, but also don't be afraid to. Remember no one can assault you, and there are very few exceptions to this. So... get in close, if you have to, dont be afraid.

That too. But I keep my distance if possable because it gives me more possable targets.
I don't go at Cruising Speed if Combat Speed will allow me to keep the target in my sights. Combat speed may give me 2 rounds of shooting rather then the 1 that Cruising speed wound.

If all else fails, enter hover mode (dangerous, obviously) or disengage to get in a better position.

That is an advantage to the blitz bommer. You drop the bomb in the movement phase and then can carry on off the board, to line up a similar line the next turn. Third turn of coming on it will be dead so who cares.
Also red paint job can really help with some of these considerations, though costs far too many points.

The one obvious exception to this excellent piece of advice is the Storm Raven's Multi-Melta; especially if shooting other flyers, make sure you get the job done, no risks.

Not all flyers can do that. Currently only Stormravens and Vendettas/Valks can hover. All the other Flyers have Supersonic and can't Hover. The stormtalon can Hover Strike which is different(no movement allowed at all)
It is funny to be pursued by a Void Raven, Drop into Hover mode right in front of them, and then they have to zoom overhead so you are now behind them.

That is what GW mean by cinematic: copying a scene from top gun.
I am now off to read the rules about hovermode and the ultrasmurf FAQ.

I noticed that WD nor FAQ say anything about how are dakkajets weapons mounted.
Pintlemounted supa shootas anyone?
Supashootas have 30" range.

They are mounted as they are on the model.

Following is a quote from WD 390:
Here, no two Dakkajets are precisely the same - no Mek would ever considering using another's design without making a few 'improvements'.

That is fluff my friend. what you plan to do is "modeling for a advantage". A rule that a lot of people over look is that weapons on vehicles can only swivel up and down at 45 degrees. Meaning flyers normally can not shoot at targets 12" from them because of the angle. modelling your planes to have pintlemounted weapons would be "cheating".

If you can find the rules which state that supashootas can't be pintle mounted I'm happy to follow those. Second GW is pushing this narrative gameplay which kinda makes sense that each dakkajet is unique and has no resrictions on building the model. Third dakkajet box already comes with one pintle mounted weapon.
If we were talking about any other army other than orks I would agree with you.

That's modeling for advantage and on par with cheating. It's the same as mounting two landraider sponsons on the same side, or building a leman russ with 24" tall turret.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

I can not find it right now but every body knows about "modeling for a advantage". Take your dakka jet with all of its pintel mounted guns to your local gaming store and tell every one that they can shoot 360 degrees, then come back and tell me how many people let you use it.
