Exactly what the title says: is there hersesy/pre hersesy imperial guard backround and what what would they look like?

FW autoguns?, addtional armor plates?, futile bionics?, starting/early generation vehicles?

all comes to mind, now i havn't read any HH novels but it came to me while i was putting together my Adeputs Mechcancus/ Imperial guard project

I have seen traitor guardsman(FW) , but not exaclty the idea of what i was looking at.

kinda of thought during the birth of the HH how Space Marines weren't changed by the warp yet... but imperial guard

The Imperial Army (had its name changed to Imperial Guard among other things after the heresy) was just as diverse a force as the "modern" Guard, it is only a matter of specific equipment like Land Raiders and Rhinos, in which case you can only really use the GK codex. You can look up descriptions of specific formations' uniforms on Lexicanum, like the Imperial Army forces that fought alongside the Emperor's Children were like Cuirassiers on foot, steel breastplates and lots of flare.

They fielded Land-Speeders and Land Raiders, had much more access to special weapons and high-technology, and were much more willy-nilly about taking casualties. (AFAIK)
