I jumped on the boat ~4 months ago and have no regrets (what ? just 4 months ? It seems like more than a year already haha)

I'm incredibly excited about a new book =) I think it's gonna be awesome having to proxy some models and then get to see those models released =D

I don't even know. I played a proxy game with my friend a long time ago, during the first edition of Infinity I think. Then it wasn't mentioned again for like half a year (no other interested players and we were working on our 40k armies) until my interest re-emerged and I bought the models and kept my interest up until after a few more months another guy bought into the game and I finally got to play regularly.

Have been collecting and painting the minis for almost a year - actually, after Games Workshop brought in a ban on international orders. I was living overseas at the time, and ended up having to cancel an order for a large Orc & Goblin army. Had a long look through the games on the sidebar of Maelstrom's website, and ended up going for Infinity, with no real thought of playing the game at the time!

I've been playing sporadically for 3-4 months now, but have only got into the game seriously (and really started getting to grips with the rules) over the last month or two.

Wow I'm not sure. I had to go look at the minis to figure it out. I know that Yu Jing was only up to about 5 releases. I remember being excited that a Zanshi with HMG came out. So I think it's at least 5 years.

That should make it February 2006.

3-4 years.
Had models before I played with them, was interested in the game before I bought the minis.

My local area has had a boom in the last 9 months. 40-ish players with Haqqis and Ariadna leading the numbers.

I'm the only gamer in my family (or the inlaws) so I recruit from my clubs, instead. It was easy. I didn't push. I showed it around, demo'd the game, got two others in, then they got more.
Then one started selling it, and he got many more into it. We get our stuff through him.

Ive been building up my Haqqislam stuff for over 6 months. I haven't been playing yet because it's taken me this long to get friends interested. My brother now has enough Yu Jing to play some quick games, so that should happen soon (I can't even describe how excited I am to play another non GW game again).

I've been looking and drooling at the figures for years, but I have only acquired the miniatures now after the contest. I also recently discovered a FLGS that holds Infinity miniatures, so that's good for me.

Around 5-6 years all told. I started playing basically when the game came out and it has been a favourite since.

Wow time DOES fly. It was also before the first rule book. They did a pretty smart thing by having a little booklet with rules on how to play in with the starter stets. It's pretty cool to start so early with a game and see it grow.

The first set i picked up was the Yu Jing version 2. That was Nov 2010 at the Warfare show in Reading. Didn't play much over the next year or so until finally got some mates to pick up a box. Been playing it as much as poss this year. Gotta say i'm hooked. Even the likes of 40k and Warmachine have taken a side step with Malifaux making a fairly regular appearance! I now have about 20 minis for Y'Jing and about 8 for Haqqi with many many many more planned for both factions!

Need more 's in my life!

I've been collecting since 2006 but haven't yet managed to get a single game in yet.

In part due to moving from Southern California to Massachusetts to South Carolina then back to Massachusetts and then a few moves within Massachusetts since then...

Well, now I've got my own house, with an excellent gaming space planned for the basement.

It won't be long now!

Though it is a shame in how hard it is to find a good Infinity Community here in many US cities...

Really it's going to take MAKING the community. Do demos in your area. Talk to you FLGS to get it in, etc.

Wouldn't you need to learn the game that way yourself first? Or in fact find people who want to play the game (or any game of this type) with you in the first place. Difficult when you're the sole person in a circle of friends who has any sort of interest in this kinda thing.

Thank the warp for Dakka I suppose...

I learned by watching my first dozen or so games and then playing a very simple starter box level game (I won it due to some very dodgy dice rolls and bad luck** on my opponent's part).

That was over three years ago. I then lost the next dozen or so games before winning again.

** Luck is the leftovers of planning.
You have good luck if it was a good plan.
Bad luck if it was a bad one.

I first heard of Infinity quite long ago, but as I don't use to try alternate games I wasn't paying much attention, to say the list. I really started to like the game about three years ago. I bought the 2nd ed Rulebook, the Ariadna starter and the Yuan Yuan blister. I had to buy it in Madrid because in my city nobody played it, and it wasn'd available at any store either. I kept buying random stuff that I liked in Madrid until a few months ago. Some more Ariadna stuff, the Oniwaban... I didn't care about using it because I had nobody to play with.

One year ago, two gentlemen from a close province came to my city to lead some demos. I won the demo game vs a friend and won a Yu Jing starter too. That first game and more minis took my hype further, and in the first BoW Infinity Week I bought a lot more of stuff, the Haqqi and the ALEPH packs. At that point I had a ton of minis in their boxes :(

But then a few months ago I found that a new FLGS had opened in my city, and they were selling the game! I've played a few games with my Haqqis, and bought more stuff for Ariadna, the army I'm really in love with. Also this 2nd BoW Infinity Week I fell again and bought the Nomad Pack >_<

I haven't still won a game since my first demo... Agh... Watch out, it will be my time when I put together and paint my Ariadnean guys... *shakes fist*

I'm always on the lookout for "other" SF infantry games - I've never been an "all GW or nothing" gamer, and have usually had at least two games on the boil, so to speak.

Started with Battletech before adding 40k (mid-late 80s), switching BT out for Kryomek for a while, followed by Warzone for a while Then it was Void, as WZ's people killed the game, then it was Infinity's turn.

I've given up 40k in the last 6 months or so - it just lost its appeal to me after so long. That and the constant childish "interpretations" of the rules (5th ed, FOC and dedicated transports, specifically and THAT mission) so I swapped it out for Tomorrow's War.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

One of the reasons for us (the Spanish) to not to look for other games, is that a lot of that games aren't published in Spanish. Some stores import them, but few people understands English good enough to understand a new ruleset or read fluff. WFB was first published here in 1993. Before that it was almost all RPG here. Only few people in Madrid and Barcelona could play imported wargames. There wasn't a mass market for imported products. Actually, it isn't a mass market still, but small stores and gaming enterprises can survive. Edge Entertainment, who import and translate WarmaHordes and Fantasy Flight Games stuff are doing pretty well. I hope they'll publish Zombiecide and Sedition Wars. They are doing it with Zombies!!! and Soda Pop's Super Dungeon Explore too. All this stuff is still growing here.

Infinity wouldn't have made it so good in Spain if they weren't Spanish (and therefore publish their material in Spanish).

Theres a club in christchurch and one in St leonards, so not too far from bournemouth depending on your mode of transport, both with people i know have infinity, (the Wessex Wyverns and Christchurch Crusaders) you will have to pay a subscription fee though.

The Wyverns (Ringwood) costs £4 non-member, £3 member (+£10 annual subs) or £1 just to watch! They play Historical, RPG and a healthy dose of sci-fi stuff.

The Crusaders (Christchurch) costs £1 flat rate for whatever you want to do! We have more of a sci-fi focus with Infinity and 40k played at least once every week. Also Warmahordes, Malifaux, FoW, WHFB, Muskets&Tomahawks and Dystopian Wars also making regular appearances. Among the gamers we have you'll also find players of pretty much anything you fancy from Necromunda, RoE, Grunts, Space Hulk/Crusade, Battletech, Freebooters, 7TV and probably many more I've forgotten (and many many more I've never heard of) Plus the added bonus of the guy who runs the club also has a LGS and sells pretty much all of the above and more!

Just in case that wasn't tempting enough you'll be pleased to know that yours truly is a member of the Xchurch club! So now you really do have a reason to go!

Need more 's in my life!
