Are they really worth getting and do they make a massive difference compared to water? and also are Flow Improver and flow aid the same since looking at this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Winsor-Newton-Artists-Acrylic-Flow-Improver-125ml-3030937-/160840641467?pt=UK_Crafts_DrawingSupplies_EH&hash=item2572d96bbb#ht_1232wt_1186

this makes me think that flow aid is better since its more expensive XD but are they both actually the same? if not which is better to buy?

I used it for a while. It does make a difference, Only used the W&N one though. I started using P3 and didnt really see a need for it anymore. For Vellejo it works great. I grabbed a few of the Reaper droppers and mixed a 15:1 water to flow aid.

How come you didnt see the need for it anymore?

Not to put words in IClead's mouth but P3 paints have a higher fluidity than other paints, so you don't really need to add thinner. I never water them down either. They are fantastic paints.

hopefully I'm getting better.

I use it, but only in a low ratio similar to that listed above.

The only real reason I ordered it was to make my own washes and such. Otherwise, I didn't really see a need for it in thinning my paints. It's nice, but not necessary.

Otherwise, Future Floor Polish mixed with water (I think the ratio is 4:1 water/polish) is about an equivalent, but do some research to get the exact recipe.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

i started useing it about a year ago .and havnt looked back it makes every paint smoother and cover better and it makes blending almost automatic .

i water it down for the base coats but use it neat for the blending and highlights .

Be careful which product you are considering. Different companies use different names such as Flow Control, Flow Aid, Extender, or even Thinner. Examine the product in the bottle. If it is runnier than water, it is intended either as a thinner so you can use the paint in an airbrush or to go even further and essentially transform your acrylic paint into watercolors. This is different than water which will turn your paint into a wash, not a watercolor. If it is rather thick or even gel-like, then it is designed as an additive or "medium" likely intended to extend the drying time and basically make your acrylic paint perform similarly to an oil paint. You need to see which is what and be very careful how much you use. If you are still unsure, talk to whoever is working at the store and ask for an acrylic thinner product.

I use Testors Acryl Thinner instead of water and it it amazing. Where water will dilute your pigment some, this thinner really doesn't unless you use too much of it and find yourself putting watercolors on your minis.
