I don't agree with bringing back the death penalty, I do not however think whoever did this should spend a few hours in a dark room with someone creative and tougher than them.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/aug/07/woman-torture-burglary-waterboard-surrey
Masked burglars beat a 73 year old grandmother into opening her safe, and beat her some more for trying to reach a panic button. When due to distress and shock she is unable to work the mechanism for the second safe they put her in a bath and waterboard her.

Putting a pensioner through this, fething nasty.
The fethers who did this to her better hope the police get them before anyone else does.

Damn. Some people really deserve worse than death.
Good for the victim that she is alive. I just wonder why she didn't just give them the combination and see them gone. I'm sure there's more to it though.
To continue with the movie quotes:
I know who you are, and I know where you sleep, and I swear by all that I hold dear that your mothers will weep when they see the things I have done to you!

This is simply shocking... I'm at a loss here. As someone who works with the elderly I find this senseless violence against them just turns my stomach.... String the fethers up by their balls, then garrotte them with piano wire.

If they did, those burglars would be fethed.

A mix of being 73 years old, surprised, threatened and tortured means that she was not thinking clearly. I can understand if she really was not able to open the safe under those conditions, besides they tortured her enough that I doubt she was holding out on them.
When Hitchens volunteered for waterboarding he only lasted a few seconds, these scum tortured her for hours. You think you could hold out?

Silver Lining: At least the Yanks haven't been completely wasting their time at Guantanamo, as it clearly gets results.
In all seriousness, I hope the powers that be throw the book at them. Over and over again.
Like, an ACTUAL book. 'Crime and Punishment' or something.

Try Les Miserables. Or better yet, Remembrance Of Things Past by Marcel Proust. That sucker is over 3,000 pages long.

I'm not vindictive. I'd give them a nice sunny wall to stand in front of, and a cigarette.

I think it probably isn't the burglars fault because they had a bad upbringing and were left out to dry by the state....
Not really, I think we should bludgeon them to death with a big spiky dildo.
