hello dakka,

couple quick questions:

1. if tournament rules state something to the effect of "Models produced by Games Workshop are legal for play in this event", would that also cover FW models or would models like the contemptor dread, land raider proteus and such be excluded from play? I ask specifically about FW since they seem to be the only company licensed by GW.

2. for tournaments that use the WYSIWYG rule, how literal is it taken? for example, in the space marine codex it states that all tac marines are equipped with grenades as part of their standard load out. would each model in a tac squad have to include grenade bits in order to be able to use them? would *any* model in the squad have to have them?

cheers and pardon the noob questions

As always, when it comes to tournaments only the tournament organizer can answer your questions.

1) Probably, but check with the TO to make sure.

2) It depends on the tournament, but most do not require WYSIWYG for automatic gear the model has, they usually only require you to model any upgrades you give to your models. But it depends on the tournament and the TO.

1. you may use the FW model but (as of now) you may not use the rules for it. Also it does have to be WYSIWYG

2. For the most part, models are assumed to have the basic equipment on them. Anything else must be added on.

Armourcast and Epicast are 2 companies that held GW licences in the past so they would fall under the same question as FW.

A lot of local tournaments will not allow FW models, some people think they are over powered or just don't want to deal with them.

For both your questions for a definitive answer you have to talk to the TO.

I think you mean 'A lot of local tournaments will not allow FW rules'

The models they are generally okay with if they are WYSIWYG.

True the models are usually fine if they are WYSIWYG, as long as they look cool most people will have absolutely no problem with them.

The forge world rules on the other hand, most tournaments just don't want to deal with them and any potential issues that could come from allowing them.
