As stated above what are your thoughts and words of wisdom? I do not know whom is gonna be allied with whom, but most likely BT with GK allies. Also i have never played a SM army and love the fluff on both and think they will do well together.

As it's the only way to get psykers in with BT, it's a workable combo. I thought about it myself with Coteaz leading a couple units of Crusaders. It depends on the wording of the BT book-it mentions a specific clause to BT allying with other armies-the wording may allow the entire GK codex or only actual GKs. Remember, they aren't battle brothers and thus BT's can't be joined by GK characters or have psychic powers cast on them by GKs.

I understood that from the begining. I just thought it would be cool to have templars and demon killing holy knights fighting for the same cause. Just be nice to see a new BT codex though

Well, in terms of fluff, its not a great idea. I'd skip it.

I think it's a fair enough idea. They've both got that 'Holy Knight' imagery going on.

It's certainly better than people abusing the allies mechanism to gain a rules advantage.

Not a big fan of the idea; Psykers + BT sounds absurd. About as absurd as GK and Daemon alliance.

In all honesty, it's no less fluffy or more cheesy than most of the allowable combinations of allies. Just make up any old rubbish to justify it, and tell anybody who disagrees that you're "forging a narrative" and beyond such concerns as game balance.

Somehow I don't find that surprising.

I expect to see lots of GK allies for Marine armies.

The old 4th edition BT book gave permission for alliances with GK. it isn't new, so it okay to be mildly shocked. I actually find it more shocking that BT don't consider GKs to be battle-brothers, honestly. If I were to take GK allies, it would be with Coteaz and Crusaders (if able, since not sure on specific wording of BT rule). The rules may allow only models that are GK, or it may allow for alliances with 'Grey Knight,' which RAW now is the entire codex. I can answer the question tomorrow, but I'd someone could answer it today, that would be awesome. It's under the BT special rule 'abhor the witch'-not te EC's version of that rule though.

Grey Knights don't have any successor chapters.

There's no reason you can't create another chapter of Space Marines that happen to like using wrist-mounted Storm Bolters and that have a preponderance of psykers, nor another Knightly or Crusading Chapter that like wearing robes (but not as many as the Dark Angels) and that doesn't have as much of a problem with psykers to ally them with.

Well, fluff wise, the Black Templars wouldn't really have much choice when it comes to cooperating with the Grey Knights. Inquisition and all.

Of course, it fits with the old fluff better (as do most things when it comes to Grey Knights/Daemonhunters, sadly), when most Space Marines had a basic idea of what the Grey Knights were, and held a deep respect for them (some even had long-standing alliances, with "generations of Space Marines recording each oath and honour given and received"). Grey Knights kind of had a reputation of being semi-kosher, even amoung Black Templars, who had some form of respect for them.

Can't really say that about the new fluff. Basically, they have to do it because the Emperor says so now.
