Fair Warning: Lots of pics and might take a while to load, but I think it's well worth it!!

After more than a millennium, planet Kuerte, in the far eastern fringe of the galaxy, has mysteriously re-emerged from the warp. Every conceivable faction, from Necron, to Eldar, to the Imperium of Man, has descended upon the planet to investigate and lay claim to this planet out of time.

It is rumored that a mighty and revered Inquisitor of the Holy Ordo Malleus is somewhere buried on Kuerte. Unbeknownst to the vast majority of imperial subjects, Saint Tacitus harbored a dark secret - he believed that he could harness the power of Chaos to persecute the war against it. He is buried in his treasured armor, a demonic suit of tremendous protective power.

Two factions of Traitor Marines have discovered the location of the tomb and are hell-bent on retrieving the evil relic for themselves. They arrive at the tomb at the same time, neither side willing to back down.

Scenario: The Relic

THE FORCES

THE LEGION OF REAVERS

Ashura the Ascendant, Winged Demon Prince of Nurgle, Pyromancer

Zrkx'rkbha Urtz'a, Greater Demon of Chaos

The Scions of Rage, 7 Berzerkers led by a Cihbiel the Vicious armed with Power Fist - in Rhino

Ashura's Cutthroats, 8 Chaos Space Marines, with Icon of Chaos Glory and Meltagun - in Rhino

The Exsanguinated, 7 Plague Marines with plasmagun and meltagun, led by Ezedon the Blood Drinker - in Rhino with Havok Launcher

Hatewind, 7 Chaos Raptors with two meltaguns and Icon of Chaos Glory, led by Tbiras the merciless armed with twin Lightning Claws

The Heralds of Despair, 7 Terminators armed with a variety of weaponry and Icon of Nurgle, led by Esham the Unholy

The Five Horsemen, 5 Chaos Bikers with two meltaguns, Icon of Khorne

Serael the Baleful, Chaos Dreadnought armed with Twin-linked auto cannon and heavy flamer

Spoiler:

THE PLAGUE HARBINGERS

Winged Demon Prince of Nurgle, Nurgle's Rot

7 Plague Marines with two meltaguns in Rhino

7 Plague Marines with two plasmaguns in Rhino

Blight Drone of Nurgle

Vindicator

2 Obliterators

2 Obliterators

AND THEIR DEMONIC ALLIES

Great Unclean One

9 Plaguebearers

Demon Prince of Nurgle, Wings, Demonic Gaze, Iron Hide, Unholy Might, Mark of Nurgle, Cloud of Flies

Spoiler:

The Chaos rivals line up across from each other with the Inquisitor's Tomb in the center. There's about to be a fight.
Spoiler:

The Legion of Reavers throws caution to the wind and charges forward to secure the Relic. Heavy autocannon fire from the Terminators and Dreadnought downs an Obliterator along the right flank.
Spoiler:

But The Plague Harbingers do not sit idly by. A Great Unclean One and a horde of Plaguebearers burst into the materium via huge tears in the fabric of reality to challenge the Marine onslaught. Withering fire from the Obliterators and Plague Marines annihilates the Berserker Rhino, decimates the biker squad and sends them fleeing for safety.
Spoiler:

The Legion of Reavers consolidates its position. Chaos Space Marines pour out of the rear hatch of their Rhino to secure the relic. Meanwhile, the Raptors, Berzerkers, and Demon Prince prepare to assault the Great Unclean One and send him back to the warp.
Spoiler:

The Great Unclean One is beset upon all sides by the crimson-clad traitor marines!
Spoiler:

Demon Prince Ashura the Ascendant, confident in his martial prowess and his favor with the Dark Gods, challenges the Demon to single combat! His cohorts observe, searching for any signs of weakness in their leader.
Spoiler:

The Plague Harbingers won't let their rivals abscond with the Ancient Relic so easily. The Nurgle Demon Prince, a squad of Plague Marines, and the Plaguebearers move to threaten the Red Marines. Meanwhile, the ancient suit of demonic armor hums and glows, and a strange protective field covers all within the immediate vicinity (4+ invuln within 6")
Spoiler:

After intense fighting, the situation in the cemetery descends into mayhem. Under heavy fire and the unrelenting assault of the Nurgle Demon Prince, the crimson Space Marines are down to their last man and have lost possession of the relic. Attracted by the massive amount of bloodshed, Zrkx'rkbha Urtz'a, Greater Demon of Chaos, materializes to join the fray.
Spoiler:

More trouble for the Legion of Reavers as a monstrously powerful Demon Prince of Nurgle tears through the fabric of reality to join his brothers.
Spoiler:

Demon Prince Ashura the Ascendant finally destroys the Great Unclean One, but at tremendous cost.
Spoiler:

The fighting inside the cemetery grows into a howling maelstrom of carnage as the Legion of Reaver Terminators, Plague Marines, and Greater Demon desperately try to regain possession of the precious Artifact.
Spoiler:

The battle rages. No mercy, no quarter, no respite.
Spoiler:

The Nurgle Demon Prince and Greater Demon Zrkx'rkbha Urtz'a clash in single combat
Spoiler:

The Legion of Reaver Raptors pour over the walls to attack the Plague Harbinger Marines from behind
Spoiler:

But it's just too little, too late. The Plague Harbinger's Plaguebearers take possession of the relic and disappear into the warp with it. With nothing left to fight for and their noses bloodied, the Legion of Reavers flee in disarray.
Spoiler:

Hope you enjoyed! We called the game turn 6 as the Plague Harbingers were in possession of the relic and I had no way to claim it, and couldn't win or even tie on secondaries. Was our second game of sixth, and it was a ton of fun, even though it did kind of devlove into a clusterf**k in the middle towards the end.

I think when you play The Relic scenario, it's best to keep the middle of the board fairly clear, otherwise it just ends up staying there and you get these monstrous close combats in the center.

We also learned a lot about the challenge system and some of the idiosyncrasies that come with it.

Overall, a fun game... my Legion of Reavers will be back! We are even now honing our skills in the Dark Arts to be able to summon more demonic allies!

Very nice! The pictures helped it out, and I love the background of two warbands clashing over a relic.

Awesome job mate! Please post some more close ups of those wonderful armies if you have the chance. Not often you get to see a well written report with two fully, well painted armies on the same caliber table.

Very well done indeed! Please do a sequel!

Thanks a lot for the compliments, guys. These batreps are actually pretty time-consuming to put up, so the kind words make it worth it!

Will try to post some close up pics of the armies soon.

The alternate Nurgle demon models are... Ultraforge, I believe? Good prices and cast quality, but I personally feel their work is a bit hit-or-miss.

I will hopefully be playing another game this week that I will make a batrep of, but, in the meantime, check out this other one I did a while back in the same style -

Great pictures and report overall, thanks so much for posting!

I could probably do with a bit more game info personally, like when you say the Daemon Prince killed the Greater Daemon but 'at great cost', I'd love to know what that meant (in game terms).

But regardless, still very enjoyable to read.

Just aswell XM , maybe spolier things like pregame setup and army lists/army pics, just to make the rep a tiny bit more compact and "easy on the eye".
Readers can still view them but it reduces the lenght to a degree and is a little neater.
Still great stuff though.

What armies are up next?

Yes, I want to do that, but how do I "spoiler" images? I can't seem to figure it out!!! I put the spoiler tag around the image tag, but then when I preview and click on the spoiler, the image doesn't show up! Am I doing something wrong?

Working on the next batrep now, in fact. You'll see!

To the right of the message body line when posting a reply are a set of buttons/tools.
The 5th from the left is called spoiler.

Basically highlight the imagelink or text you want to spoiler as if you were going to copyit ala a word document it and click the spolier tag.

Cool, I tried that, but does it not work in the "preview" before I post?

Nice setting for a game, would you consider doing more battle reports on this "lost planet"?

In fact, I do plan on doing more batreps on this lost planet. There is an ongoing Planetary Empires campaign at my LGS that I am participating in as a "pirate" (I can't commit to the schedule required to actually hold lands and stuff, so I am playing a spoiler role)

Be on the lookout for the Legion of Reavers to wreak more havoc!

Great Battle Report and I look forward to more. Id like to see close up pics of the MC's in this batrep if possible. They looked awesome and some looked custom or green stuff converted. I did not recognize the MC with the Scythe... Good material for inspiration imo.

Epic report, great stuff

I have read all your batreps and like yakface would welcome more detail. Would also welcome more learnings, ie terrain in relic mission, but also what did you learn about challenge system?

Thanks for taking the effort, great read for us.
