Hey

I was wondering (as I don't play warhammer yet), are the chaos dwarves officially allowed?

Are there rules for all models? (In FW book I guess?) And are those rules fair or are they overpowered

Kind regards.

They are tough, but fair.

And they rather are allowed. Never seen a tournament nearby turn them down yet.

It's up to the TOs, but since all tournaments are Games Workshop they should allow them as they are an official army with a book in the TAMURKHAN http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer/Warhammer-Forge-Books/TAMURKHAN-THE-THRONE-OF-CHAOS.html

They are quite tough and fair-ish, the only circumstance I dislike them is when someone runs them with Warriors of Chaos army as well, this is fantasy not 40k, no allies please. There is a reason they keep us separate because some armies have strengths and weaknesses for a balanced game.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Just about every tournament is allowing them, GW or private.

Powerwise, they are a fair army that will punish you if you make a mistake while fighting them. Although they have pretty bad internal balance. Their warmachines and magic are amazing, but their infantry are a little overpriced.

CD infantry are really little more then M3 chaos warriors with a Fire Ward.

Their ranged infantry are decent in melee but again are a little overpriced for what they do.

Magma Cannons destroy everything they touch, especially multi-wound models(ogres hate them)

Tempered by only having a 24"+bounce range.

The Destroyer is an excellent monster, although any character with a Fire Ward can just troll it the entire game. And redirectors can also neutralize it if the CD player isn't careful.

Basically, they play like more agressive dwarves. Having a gunline of basic troops that are basically babysitting some nice Warmachines while some of the more nasty stuff wrecks havoc elsewhere on the field.

Is the FW CD book written as an 8th book?

They have very few units. I think their infantry is overcosted. If you give them guns they are WAAAY overcosted.

They are basically the only army with elite war machines (cept maybe Trebuchets). But they are very pricey. Their choochoo train of doom is scary. But it's also super costly.

Destroyer I think is a little overstated. It's a crazy expensive monster with a Ward. It also has a 1/6th chance of doing D3 wounds to itself every round past 2nd. The smaller versions of Kdaii are horrible in that regards.

Hobgoblins and Centaurs aren't bad. I just don't think anyone will ever take them when they really want a CD army.

If you go full CD. You're going to have very few units as everything simply costs so much.

I assume you play them on a regular basis then?
