So, what exactly is going to happen here?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-19259623
How exactly is he going to be able to leave the embassy? Will there be some kind of 'Mexican stand off' between UK police and the Equadorian embassy staff?
Are we going to be treated to a high-speed chase to Heathrow, with a diplomatic limo being flanked by police cars, with at least one of them doing a barrel roll through the air and exploding? Will John Candy and Steve Martin be involved, and will there be any awkward yet highly amusing motel scenes?
More importantly, what the hell is the purpose of an embassy if another country's police can just disregard international convention and enter of their own volition? And I want to know, will James Bond be involved?
Will be interesting to see how this pans out in any case.

It wouldn't matter if they had, as the accusations were just politically motivated. Quite obviously it was just being used an excuse to extradite him to Sweden and then onwards to the US. Don't think he will be executed, but he has pissed off a lot of powerful people and I have no doubt he will go into a very deep hole and the key will be thrown away should he ever arrive in the Land of the Free.
Bit of a development, Ecuador has now offered him asylum. This has little practical bearing, other than presumably meaning he won't just be handed over to UK police?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19281492
I doubt very much if the UK foreign office will renege on the Treaty of Vienna and order police to enter the embassy to arrest him - yes we will do what we can to toady up to the US whenever possible, but I would like to think that the politicians in charge have enough intelligence to realise the instant ramifications this will bring to embassies globally and even the structures of international relations as a whole?
In any case the UK government has said that he will not be granted free passage through the country. Assuming the Ecuadorian embassy doesn't have a helipad or secret submarine that can travel down the Thames, he will have to leave the embassy building at some point. When he does, he will most likely be arrested.

Because if you don't the US will bring "democracy and freedom" to Sweden haha
personally I think Assange wont get arrested, the diplomatic pains it would likely cause the UK at this point really arent worth the effort.

I think we should send the boys in, boot the door down, get Assange in a head lock, throw him from the second floor window and bundle him into a van.
And if Ecuador complain, tell them to feth off. We can live without..er.. Magnum ice creams?
Yeah I think that's about it.
At the end of the day, I've some sympathy for Assange, and I DO think the British and American governments are hypocritical at times.. but well, as I've said, I hate fence sitters and all these trendy "anti establishment" hippies and I've picked my side.
So feth the guy. You take on the government you get burned you idealistic short sighted fool!

I'm sorry but anyone who spouts this: "It’s not correct to put me in any one philosophical or economic camp, because I’ve learned from many. But one is American libertarianism, market libertarianism. So as far as markets are concerned I’m a libertarian, but I have enough expertise in politics and history to understand that a free market ends up as monopoly unless you force them to be free" deserves to be yanked out of whatever deep dark hole he is hiding in and then flogged publicly before being locked in the stocks and having rotten eggs chucked at his sanctimonious face.....

I don't want to come across as rude.. but suffice to say I would be extremely surprised, like them not making an Avengers 2 movie surprised, if that isn't the case. And this extradition order is genuinely an attempt to get the guy to stand trial just for rape allegations, with no other political motivations involved.
At the end of the day, I've some sympathy for Assange, and I DO think the British and American governments are hypocritical at times.. but well, as I've said, I hate fence sitters and all these trendy "anti establishment" hippies and I've picked my side.
Funny you should say that Mattyrm, this is probably the first time in a decade or so when I've considered heading off to a protest.. ! Then when the UK government does finally fall on its ass, I can be in with the 'did it before it was popular' crowd
Assuming I don't get run down by cavalry of course..

I don't understand why people think its more likely that it is some convoluted conspiracy to extradite someone who is a minor irritation to the US than that the women are telling the truth and Sweden is just trying to enforce the law equally.
Hes just using the bizarre world he has built up around him to justify not facing justice in a fair and free country.

Pretty much this. Assange is trash, he wasn't even well liked amongst the Wikileaks people because he kept trying to politicize the movement.

Mate, why do you care about saying "I did if before it was popular" its not going to get you laid or antyhing. I remember being at Leeds festival and a girl I was with at the time said "Lets go and see Linkin Park" and I went "er... they are gak?" and she said "Oh yeah I dont like them either, but just so we can say we have seen them!"
Nobody cares! You wont "look" cool if you go to a protest, and If a chick wants to feth you, then she will regardless of the triflings, if a girl thinks you aren't worth bothering with because she doesn't fancy you, she wont change her mind because you happen to do something she agrees with a bit! You get over this desire to impress people the older you get... case in point, Ive shagged some proper hippies, and even rattled a bird from Exeter who started the conversation with "I fething hate Marines"
The point is, seriously.. protesters are just sad bastards! I hate all sorts of things, but what would you rather do? Spend 6 hours in the pub with your mates, or on a fething picket holding a sign and shouting?!
Nobody cares, it doesn't impress anyone, and 99.9% of the time it doesn't achieve anything. If you really want to do it, then do it, but never do something so you can "say you have done it" because it doesn't matter a jot anyway!

The only reason Sweden says they want him is to interview him about the case. Why are the British authorities willing to violate years of diplomatic laws over a case of "we just wanna talk to you"?

Probably because they're of the opinion that Assange has no real "political" protection here, and is playing the system by citing vague and nebulous threats against his person.
