Im painting a space marine army to be hawklords, i looked in the sm codex to see how to paint them and all the infantry are purple and gold but in one of the pictures it shows a hawk lord biker and the bike is black an gold. Does anyone know if this is how all hawk lord vehicles should be painted or is it just a typo. Please Help

Thanks for the info!

Is there a way i could contact gw and ask them if the biker in the codex is correct?

I did my HawkLord bikes in purple and gold, though my tanks are purple with black.

I see, great army and thanks for the comment.

Did you use the purple wash or black wash?

Im doing some purple marines.. that while arent 'supposed' to be hawk lords... they are remarkably similar.
I use yellow rather than gold;

This is my first squad, not yet completed the painting but you get the idea

Edit; hehe totally forgot to comment about your question.
I dont think its really set in stone about the hawk lord's vehicles. I was going to go with black bikes and landspeeders much like the Darkangel Ravenwing, only hvaing the Riders and pilots still with the purple power armour as you described. for the tanks, all Black may look out of place. I would put some serious thought into it. If you have dawn of war for the pc maybe try the army painter thign and see how rhino's look

The colors I used were a base of Liche Purple with drybrushing and highlights of warlock purple. The black is the primer coat. It has a real dull finish and I think it contrasts nicely with the purples, so I left it alone. The gold was base coated with a tan color then lightly hit with shining gold to make it pop.
I like my tanks factory fresh so I rarely use washes or dirty them up. Afterall, these are quasi-religious icons to the Mechanicus. I figure after any battle the Servitors are busy making repairs and touching up the paint with fervent pride.
Sorry, these are the old colors...I'm not sure what the current name match is...but essentially a darker purple highlited with with a more pinkish-purple.

The ones I linked were done with the new citadel purple's

Black matt spray 'primer' coat...not actually primer as many know :(
Nagaroth night base coat. airbrushed over 100% of the figure

Xerus purple mid tone airbrushed from the top at a 45 degree downwards angle to create shadows on undersides of things

Druuchi Violet wash applied with a brush

then Genestealer purple edge highlights

edit - its the Warlock purple you used that makes them tend towards pink
In the old GW paints there was no 'blue/purple' only a true purple (liche) and a red/purple (warlock)
I used to add white to Liche Purple for highlighting my Dark Elves to avoid getting this pinkness in the hue. However its not a bad look... its just very pink, which isnt what I personally was after.

The rarefied atmosphere

one of my mates did hawk lords and he used iridescent paint over the purple, gave it a metalic glowing edge. looked brilliant.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.
