I have been working on a 1000 point SW army since im relatively new to the game. We started playing at 500 points until i acquired enough models for 1000 points. Now that im almost at 1000 points though, 6th edition comes out and all those rules that I finally started to get a grasp on have changed. >.< Ive heard a lot about how hull points make it easier to destroy vehicles by simply glancing it to death with mass fire. Has this made vehicles less viable? Am I better off using my last points for a 3rd 10man GH squad or should I get some long range weapon platform dreadnoughts with assault/autocannons?

Well both have pros and cons.
The dreadnaughts will be slightly more survivable, because they can't die to basic weapons of a basic troop choice, while you GH will.
The con of the dreadnaught is they can be glanced to death with a s6 or s7 weapon, which isn't as often as it would seem as they glance on 6 and 5 respectively.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Fragile vehicles are still fragile, and robust vehicles are still robust. TLAC Rifleman Dreads are still great choices.

- Deathskulls - 6150

I personally like the rules IMO, as it means you have to think a lot more and tactically position your vehicles. Plus, if your that worried, try to prioritize who to kill, so you get the most dangerous enemy units out of the game before they cause too much damage .
As for a specific army tho, i would say be careful with Crons , as their Gauss ability to always glance on a 6 is rather pesky, and Necron Scarabs can strip armour off vehicles pretty easy, but dreadnoughts are good to cope with that, because with a Strength 6 weapon you can instakill them or use templates to do double wounds, as the Scarabs have a Weakness to Template/Blast.

That is really good advise honestly.
Don't worry about the new rules, they aren't going to change the usefulness of dreads.

While the ability to glance stuff to death means that potentially armor is weaker, I do like the fact that glancing hits cannot prevent your armor from moving or firing. It is better for tanks and worse for walkers/transports.
Edit: At least from what I have seen.

Guns don't kill people, especially not lasguns.
