So i was thinking today how well a landraider army would work, so i came up with a theory army list

Chaplain in terminator armour. (joins the assault squad) 130 pts

Tactical Squad, flamer, heavy bolter. melta bombs 175 pts.

Tactical Squad, flamer, heavy bolter. 170 pts

Terminator squad, cyclone missle launcher, Land raider. 480 pts.

Terminator assault squad. Land raider redeemer. 430 pts.

Land raider redeemer. 240 pts

Land raider. 250 pts.

Vindicator, seige shield. 125 pts.

2000pts.

Thoughts? Would this work or just get destroyed early as there will be 5 tanks open to shots at the start of the game? i think it would work well against teams that don't start with much on the board, so i can get in a move and an incredible ammount of firepower on the first turn.

People can pack a lot of ugly into a 2k list. This seems a very "all in" idea. If people don't have a way of dealing with that much AV14, you will crush them utterly. If they do, you will explode and die. I don't think there is much of a middle ground for this list.

Which, at the end of the day, makes it look un-fun at the very least, even if it is viable. And it's viability depends a lot on how much melta is floating around in your local area.

Sorry to sound like a negative nelly, dude, but this isn't going to work. The reason is that every list should have ways of dealing with av14, especially lists/armies which have access to a lot of melta. You will find more often than not most armies can deal with av14 without much issues.

The problem with mass Land Raider is it doesn't give you much points for anything else. In fact half your points have been spent on Land Raiders.

Add that your Tactical Squads have no rides so the flamer won't get into range and the heavy bolter is just meh.

If you fancy doing a Land Raider list, then look at Blood Angels; they can take Land Raiders as dedicated support and Assault Marines can get them cheaper too.

His tac squads have 2 landraiders to ride around in.

Though, that's slightly worse, because the Land Raider is an assault vehicle and Tacticals don't assault. They will need to come out the Land Raider to fire. It just doesn't suit them.

Blood Angels just fit this list loads better.

i totally agree, it was just a concept and i was curious what you all thought my only though was that, most 2K armies do have ways of dealing with AV14, but do they have enough ways to deal with 4 seperate AV14s, and like i said the fact that it all starts on the table means i can get off a hellish ammount of firepower early. But yeah i never thought this would actually work lol the land raider is just such an iconic tank :')

I wouldn't say you've got that much fire power either. Four twin-linked lascannons and four redeemer flamers and two heavy bolters and two assault cannons.

Yeah...I was just going to say that the biggest problem that Blood Angel Land Raider Spam lists have is that they have a hard time killing things. Your list will have the same issue.

However, what about taking just two land raiders? Keep the two LR's with Terminators in them and use the points saved on the other two to get more troops and some Rhinos for them. Try that and see what you come up with.
