With 6th edition wound allocation rules, I'm a little confused what to do when I roll that dreaded 1 on the psychic chart. I figure I allocate based on the direction of the firer, which is the Weirdboy in this case, but would that imply he doesn't get wounded but still count towards the number of hits to his unit? Or do I treat it essentially as a barrage blast and wound the Weirdboy first followed by any other poor sucker hit?

The latter sounds more reasonable. The Weirdboy is closest to the center of the blast after all.

This is true. Technically speaking, he is the blast.

Appreciate the input.

Note that if you inflict multiple wounds, they all have to be put on the Weirdboy first. There's nothing stopping you for using Look Out Sir! though.

How exactly an Ork Boy tranfers the exploding head of a Weirdboy to his person is a mystery only Orks understand I'm afraid.

I thought it doesn't hurt the weirdboy, only the models near it

I can see it now....Nids are now a collection of autonomous hive fleets there are multiple Hive Minds and they all war with one another in addition to everyone else. They speak to humans using telepathy, and they can now ally with Space Wolves as battle brothers, because reasons.
Tyranids talking to humans would be like you talking to your mashed potatoes or the probiotic in your kiefer drink. It is neither possible nor productive.
Inside my mind I pinched my nipples and savored his bitter silence.

Hmmm? The weirdboy is in no way immune to the damage inflicted by this.

As for how to manage this, not entirely sure. Putting the damage on the weirdboy, and then those near him, would make the most sense - but there's no direct rule direction here.

He is the firing model, so you pick the closest model to the firing model to take wounds first....which is the firing model himself, in this case.

You are supposed to resolve the hit over the weirdboy with no scatter, you can still look out sir the hits away though.

Okay, so general consensus is to allocate wounds starting with the Weirdboy and then the next closest models to him. Thankfully, Look Out, Sir! rolls are available so any of my ever-selfless Boyz wishing to ambiguously prevent my Weirdboy's head from exploding can (and certainly will) do so. Thanks everyone!
