Looks really nice. Can't see myself buying one as the rules don't really excite me, but hopes are high for the Galleon after seeing it.

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."

I actually like it a lot. Alternate color schemes will make it that much better.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

While I was initially sour on the rules when i first heard them, they've really grown on me. I like everything about the Judicator and can't wait to get my hands on it.

My guess is its better at higher points.

Doesn't it generate its own Focus too? So you can put more Focus into your other jacks.

It is good against Cryx with all the infantry we like to take. So much fire...

Honestly though..

I get more Fire out of a Bonded Redeemer and a Vanquisher then a Judicator.

The "Chain Blast" rule kinda blows.

Redeemer + Vanquisher + 2x Vassel + Choir = 4x 3" Blasts + 2x 4" Blasts
vs
Judicator + Choir + Vassel 6x 3" blasts of which 3x are from Chainblast with a luck chance of hitting.

When I first saw the rules for the judicator it struck me as the weakest colossal since it's offense is hampered by not being able to land direct shots with it's main weapon due to inaccurate. It is so good at anti-infantry that it may force the opponent into a higher armored list and drive itself out of work.

However, I now understand how silly it is to have something like a judicator - possibly with defender's ward on it- that can't be softened up by ranged attacks or weakened by debuff spells. This thing is a defensive brick that knows exactly where it's threats are coming from.

This mirrors my feelings in general.

What I like about it is that it brings just enough of everything to the party. It's honestly not very cost effective at any one job. However it's ability to transition between roles at different stages of the game is great. Heck, pair it with a Reckoner and your problems with direct hitting go away against heavies not from Cryx or Circle. With pSevvy and Flare you're hitting an an effective RAT 8 (5[Base] - 4[Inaccurate] +2[Choir] +2[Aiming] +2[Flare] + 1 [Eye of Menoth]), with other casters RAT 7 is perfectly respectable against DEF 10-13. You're generally going to be doing at least 1 Round of shooting with your reckoner before it engages anyway, so it's not like it's just dead weight you're packing to boost the Judicator. The reckoner is a genuinely awesome 'Jack you'd bring anyway, that just happens to sygnerize well with the big guy to allow a degree of long-range firepower we couldn't put on heavies before.

It hits like the Avatar (11pts)
Bombards infantry like a pair of redeemers (12pts)
It hits heavies at range like... nothing else really comparable in the faction.

I think it's going to be useful, but take some time to figure out how to utilize it. It's also nice it does the bombarding at zero focus, with a free boost. Redeemers are little piggies and focus always feels tight to me even with playing high-focus casters. Huge bases are certainly nice for hiding squishy casters too.
