As you know Reaper Miniatures has always been on the forefront of miniatures innovation, releasing such innovative figures as 'sexy warrior maiden' 'sexy sorceress' and 'sexy elf chick'. Well now they have a new business model that is sure to turn the miniatures world on its head!

Rather than swearing their staff to secrecy and lying about upcoming models they instead are showing off previews and even greens!

http://www.reapermini.com/

So let's see what they've got!

First off they continue their daring tradition of innovation with a sexy pirate

And a sexy necromancer!

And a sexy warrior maiden!

And a sexy sniper! I see Reaper has finally learned to stop giving everyone such feeble looking undersized guns.

And a sexy ice sorceress! You can tell she's well equipped for the Arctic Cold by her midriff furry top and exposed cleavage.

Finally, a fully clothed female model. Not just fully clothed but the clothes she wears are no skintight. I don't know how this slipped through QC.

They also upend our expectations with a dwarf! Who has a hammer!

they also have Grond, the Dwarf assassin. Though why he only assassinates Dwarves is beyond me.

This Hellknight is part of the order of the Nail. Presumably because the order of the Spikes is (C) and (TM) Games Workshop.

Here we have another versatile model who can serve as either a Dwarf Pirate Cook, a Pirate Dwarf Cook or a Cook Dwarf Pirate. Or possible an assassin disguised as a Dwarf Pirate Cook. Really the only limit is your imagination.

This fellow can serve as a Barbarian warrior. Or perhaps a Barbarian chief. Maybe even a Barbarian raider.

This I'm sure is one of the more obscure monsters from the old Fiend Folio, a female vampire whose head and internal organs would detach from her body and fly around feasting on blood. They were called Hook Horrors if I recall correctly.

Reaper also put out an undead pirate captain. Now if only someone made a game about undead pirate ships... they could call it Scary Boat or something.

Like many people I've often wanted to play a Were Shark but needed the right model.

Of course I also need a model for my Hispo form, and Reaper has it covered.

Continuing with the nautical theme we have... whatever the heck these are.

Now let's say you want to have someone infiltrate... whatever they heck those are? You're covered.

I really don't have a cute comment for this guy, other than... wow.

Here we have a mounted member of the sable guard, I'm trying to figure out what she's riding through. A mink maybe? Or a ferret? A weasel maybe? Some sort of small furry mammal to be sure.

While this dwarf is riding on an Owl Griffon of course.

And finally a set of Gremlins!

So once again Reaper's bold innovative business model pays off!

You are incorrect!

Shockingly enough, the Hook Horror had... hooks (!) for hands!

The monster in question here is actually called a Pĕnanggalan.

Yeah, try saying that three times fast.

However, you at least had the Field Folio part right!

I don't know what the Fiend Folio called it, but that fits the Fillipino myth of the "Manananggal".

ha, I love looking through the old Fiend Folios in WD. I'm surprised how many made it through to later editions of D&D

So you can get those Chronoscope models already? I recognise the Sniper chick from the Kickstarter they're doing at the moment (which I must say is an immense Kickstarter!).

Yes. There are several minis in the Kickstarter that are already available in metal. Bones is their polymer (plastic?) line.

Check their existing Dark Heavens Legens (metal) here http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/DarkHeavenLegends

And here is the already existing Dark Heavens Bones (polymer) range: http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Bones

Y'know I should have remembered that, thanks to my reading of Banzai Girls.

Ive always known them as Penanggalans,

But that is mostly due to that Hellboy story with one.

Edit: Stupid lack of reading Alpharius' posts.

I think the material is actually a melted injected vinyl rather than what Privateer, Mantic and others produce. I have all the currently released Bones so far and they're not like what is commonly called "plasic resin."

That said, I know that if anyone wants to get (even more) pedantic, all plastics at one stage or another are made up of resins.

Great painting job, btw. I like the arrows sticking out of his back. I need to get my minotaur painted up.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

I love reaper minis. You can find almost anything and usually in very high quality. They do have some stinkers, but for the most part you never regret your purchase.

I'm really liking the ice sorceress and Necromancer.

Actually, they're more or less the same monster.

Penanggalan (or Penanggal) is the original Malaysian variant where the head detaches from the body along with the intestines. She uses her intestines as some kind of a lasso to capture victims.

Manananggal is the Filipino variant: we are descendants of Malaysians (and have a slightly modified mythological beings), after all. This monster has similar habits, weaknesses and such with the Penanggal, only it divides itself on its waist and has wings. Basically the descriptions evolved as our Malay ancestors migrated to a different land, but the core idea is the same.

Both words came from the rootword "tanggal" which means "to detach, to remove".

Trust me, I'm a Filipino.

His chest is so heavy, it's causing his legs to buckle inward.
