Any advice on 355 pts Orks (me) vs Imperial Guard (him)

355 Points?! What is this craziness?

What is your current list? What models do you have? What kind of IG stuff can you expect to face?

Take broadsides.

Guard can take a mean list at low levels but 355 is almost anemic.

If I were the IG player I'd try something like this:

Primaris with book powers (pyro perhaps?)
2 x Veteran Squads w/grenade launchers or flamers
2 x Chimeras ML/HHF

I think that's around 350. Probably similar to what he would take. An Ork player can help you field a response list.

355pts is really restrictive in any army, but less so in Guard. Just because everything is so cheap...

Anyway, if I were playing Guard at that, i'd take

CCS - AC, 2xPG, CO has PP and MB.
2x Vets - AC, 3PG

or

CCS, AC,
Platoon - PCS, 2xPIS w/flamer (or 1 squad with AC),and an AC HWS
vets w/AC

If I were playing Orks i'd take... Not much you can take...
2 units of 10 shoota boys w/BS and Nob with big choppa, in a trukk, and a warboss with bossbole, cybork, and power klaw. Although, that probably won't win against that little guard list I've got there.

Maybe...
Big Mek w/KFF
2x10 Gretchin units
2x Killa Kans w/Big Shoota
Killa Kan w/Rokkit Launcha
Big Gunz - 3x Kannons.

You could even take
Warboss, PK, Cybork, Bosspole, Warbike
Nob Bikers - Painboy, Nob w/BC, Nob w/BC
Gretchin.

At such low points there's only 2 routes you can take - numbers, and hope you've got more than they do, or a small elite force and hope you don't die from sheer weight of fire.

2 weapon turrets

Command squad

General troops

Will you be using the FOC? If so, then a Big Mek, minimum Grot Mob, and as many Nobz as I can fit in a Trukk. 1 PK, the rest Big Choppas.

If not, I'd put straight Nobz in a Trukk, 2 PKs, the rest Big Choppas.

Just take a KFF, and as many shoota boyz as you can.
There is little in the way of dealing with that at this low of a point level unless they know you are doing it.

Result!
We played a relic match.
I had:
HQ
Mek - KFF, Kombi Skorcha, BP - 95 pts
Troops
20 shoota boyz - 120 pts
20 shoota boyz + nob w/ BP, Ard armour - 140
He had (roughly):
HQ
Primaris psyker
Troops
10 guardsmen + missile launcher
10 guardsmen + Heavy bolter
7? guardsmen

It didn't help the My primaris completely sucked. I am never ever going to swap out lightning arc again.

Also you made about half the saves thrown at you (as opposed to about 1 third of them)...

And guard suck at being agressive against Orks...

Great! you took the Orky motto against your enemy

"Boyz before toyz!"

This is a rule to live by as orks and it will serve you well. Even the IG which i would say is probably the best armed at outdoing orky shooting still has to really fight to beat us in that category until much higher point values.

Running a minimum of two 30 boy shoota squads with big shootas and nobz will do wonders against your enemy in the future just so you know

I also highly suggest at low points Big gunz (kannons or lobbas)

and Lootaz once you and your brother start raising points totals.

Show him what it is to mess with Orky gun lines! and don't be affraid of gunfire everything in the orky army is disposable if it can get into close combat with a warboss leading the charge. just let him use his silly pyschic powers and bring a powerklaw down on his units and watch em scatter like roaches
