So im 100% new to this whole thing (been about 2 week's since i got my AoBR set home), got my AoBR marine's painted up (Like ultramarine's, gonna use some bit's to convert em to Space Wolves!), so here's my 1st Space Wolves!

I got a lot of room to get better, but im happy for it being my 2nd time only! Now i gotta finish off the orks from AoBR so i can get a game on!

EDIT: Shoulda left the pic's alone looks like there's a huge difference between the auto adjusted image and the stock from uploading it here. Lesson learned i suppose!

Very tidy work. A wash and or high light woulf realy show them off.

Indeed, get yourself a blue wash and badab black wash, as well as a lighter blue to do some light highlights They look like you have a solid hand though.

for being 2 weeks into your foray of 40k you are already demonstrating great precision with your paintbrush. Your work is clean and your models are completed....something you see maybe 1 out of every 9 new players actually do. Very nice work. You can really add some great depth to your models by picking up a few washes. But overall for being pretty much your first handful of models....fantastic work!

Would my local GW sell these wash's? Ive been reading a bit about them in my off time at work.

Nice job! ^_^ Keep up the good work. Yes, a little highlight to the armor would really make them pop but if you left them the way they are now I don't think you would hear any complaints. I personally don't use washes and I like the way it looks. If you're happy with it that's all that matters.

yes. The washes are part of the citadel GW paint lineup. They work wonders adding depth to your models as well. If you are new to washes, I would purchase few and mix 1 part wash 1 part water on a pallette, then play around with the color on a test model, gradually figuring out how much you want to use. Once you figure that out, it will be a very effective and quick way to take your mini's to another level. Judging by your colors on the model, all you need is maybe 2-3 different washes.

thats right. If your going to a GW store to pick them out, one of the employees should be able to help you figure out which ones you need. You might take one of your minis with you so they can see what colors your working with. Personally I would get 1 for the armor, 1 for the face/hair and 1 for the metallics. Good luck!

Nice start! And better change the title to "pack" instead of "squad", before any Wolf Guard sees it and slaps Your face

Yes you do have a nice tidy paint going on. It seemed like thin layers which is an awesome start. I would suggest going ahead and working on tint and shade on the power armor. Also as suggested adding highlights! I think your ready to do all 3 on power armor. Good job. I also love to look at other peoples space wolves! Such a neat army!

Thanks for the praise all, ill be picking up some washs this weekend and working on them technique wise. I'm scared to do highlights per se (with a lighter color blue) as i don't have a base of where to add and such, but i plan to be here for awhile so I'm sure ill pick it up!

A dark wash would work wonders on those beards/hair. Your painting is much better than my first week ;D It was about 2 months before I actually bothered to get a decent paintbrush!

Keep up the good work!

I'm always a fan of the white beards, my only pick is that you give them a wash, maybe grey or a black wash?

But other then that for being two weeks into it your painting skills are really good .... probably better then mine :(

So i went to the local GW today and picked up some shade (nulion oil), and 2 color's fenrisian gray, and russ grey. After playing with them i have decided to cover the old blue from my WP (color:the fang). Im using fenrisian grey and im loving it, gonna redo all the blue section re-detail and such. Still playing with the shade, im thinking i need to diltue it more, testing it on the ork warboss i got from AoBR. Will post some pic's when im all done, to show the update. Thanks again to all of you.

EDIT: Forgot the mention, apparently the GW that is closest to me is closing in 2 days, thought that sucked as i was getting cool with the guy who worked Sundays.

Try the glaze's as well. I use the green (can't think of its name) on my necrons to make them 'glow' their not as harsh as the shades. the old thraka green wash is brilliant for your orks if you can find it on ebay or something.

Very nice color! The biggest thing for me now would be adding some depth and contrast to the hair.

I tryed a bit of wash on an ork test model's hair and it just seems to dirty it up as opposed to giving it some depth, i was using nuln oil, im guessing it was the wrong one.

You may have just used too much. Mix it with a good quantity of water (at least 1/1, maybe 2/1 water to wash) and give it another try.
