Subject: What president from tlhe past do you wish was in the running for this election?
The awesome nature of Teddy Roosevelt was being discussed in another thread (I wish he was around to be running) so I thought I'd give a link to a quote of his on hyphenated Americans:
He was a huge mover for the Spanish American war, but he fought in the front lines as one of the biggest targets. How many politicians do we have that would do that?

First answer is best answer. Had just finished studying him when I got to register to vote, so I'm a registered Republican. Imagine my disappointment when I see the party now. (Granted, it wasn't exactly Teddy's party in 1998...)

Yeah, I second Andrew Jackson. His opponent would call his wife a tart and he would shoot him down in the town square. Uncontested election. Then we'd go turn Cuba into a state.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure his response to the economic crisis would at least involve, if not prominently feature him beating bankers about the head and shoulders.

No. He'd resolve the economic crisis by saying "What economic crisis?" And then the recession just disappears from sheer shock that he doesn't care enough to even know its around

Jackson, single handedly delaying the US Civil War by publicly stating he'd hang the swine on the front lawn. He's dreemie!
