Taft- A progressive trust-buster. Helped bring about the end of the Gilded Age. Plus, who doesn't want an obese President again?

Chester A. Arthur- He was so corrupt he made Grant look like an amatuer. Perhaps led to the rise of Progressivism in the US.

Eugene V. Debbs- Okay, not an actual president, but a candidate. He was a died in the wool Socialist and would actual provide a counter to the Right leaning swing of American politics.

Lot's of great answers in this thread by the way....
LBJ
Ike
Andrew Jackson
Teddy
FDR
Washington
Lincoln
They all would be pretty awesome.

Sort of OT, but if term limits didn't exist, you have to think that Bill Clinton would still be President. I grant that environmental factors come into play with elections, and at some point Clinton fatigue woulda set in. But there wasn't a single candidate over the past 12 years that Bill wouldn't have thrashed in the primaries and general elections. The guy woulda been President for life.

That's just untrue. His approval rating when he left office was in the mid to high 60s. That's without any kind of wartime boost. Pretty crazy stuff.

Lewinsky was already blowing over in 2000, as was the Whitewater non-scandal scandal. Besides, the most important question in an election is whether you like that guy more than the other guy. It's a head-to-head game, and Clinton woulda beaten anyone the GOP could have thrown at him.

Look at the current race. Obama is vulnerable thanks to a laundry list of reasons. But he's probably going to win just because Romney is a GOP John Kerry. It's the old outrunning-the-bear story.

I'm actually fairly confident that Nixon's approach to the present situation wouldn't differ all that much from what we're actually seeing, especially given some of Kissinger's comments over the last ~12 years. Though if we had Nixon instead of Bush, we probably wouldn't have invade Iraq or Afghanistan. Of course Nixon probably wouldn't have gotten elected either.

No they cant they can feth off.

Sensible British people are well aware of how awesome she is so were keeping her.

I especially like how all the fethers who hate on the Queen go on about how they hate how people are in "awe" of her (I'm not), and then they go off and make a big sign to wave, and maybe buy a t-shirt, and some buttons, and then go and holler and hoot and cheer and shriek at slimy career politicians like they are rock stars even though we all KNOW they are all self serving scumbags!

So you can just move to France, ignore the monarchy, and gleefully start treating some effete, self-loathing, left leaning hipster douche-bag with a closet full of skeletons like a living God instead whilst I merely have a grudging respect for a dignified old lady.
