So since the last time I posted my army list on dakka I have had a couple games and have done a bit of alterations to see what works, what I like, and so forth. I think I am close to finalizing my list to this and wanted to see other people's opinions of it:

Tyranid 1498/1500

The plan is to have the tervigons, termagaunts and hive guard begin on the board, with the trygons and the flyrant deep striking. The idea is that 3 monstrous creatures appear right next to you while part of your heavy weapons is now engaged by Ymgarl. 1 round of firing should leave enough of the monstrous creatures left to do some significant damage. That being the overall strategy with this army, anyone have any thoughts, opinions, or criticisms?

I would drop one Hive Guard and change one of your Trygons to a Devilfex (Dual TL Brainleech Devours, TS, Frag Spines) in a Mycetic Spore with TL Deathspitter for 250. Use the remaining 10 points to put TS on your Flyrant to give him re-rolls to wound.

You get more reliable shooting the turn you come in. The Spore Pod is a denial unit (so you can leave it near an objective to contest). The spore pod can glance AV12 vehicles on its own. Carnifex can ID opponents without having to smash. More attacks on a LR at Str 9 (better chance to glance/pen).

Sure you're giving up WS5 and re-rolls to hit plus two wounds, but if you play it right the spore can crack open a Chimera and the Carnifex can shoot/kill the contents on one turn. Then Shoot assault something else the next turn. Use the Spore for cover saves and blocking LOS.
