I've been thinking about getting a Chaos army for sometime now, and the rumours around the upcoming codex have got me stoked.

Will you be starting a Chaos army, if so what?

I am thinking Emperors Children or Flawless Host (I like the background)

I've not decided yet. I've ordered the Dark Vengance set, but i can't even decide how i want to paint the awesome chaos chosen troops. I'm torn between a palid green death-guard style nurgle theme, and a gloss black with blended purple highlights traditional Slaaneshi theme. Both will be a major step up in level of painting for me, so im unsire what will looks best, and give the best result when done.

I would like to do a Thousand Sons themed army, with some Daemon allies. I guess it really depends on how the Chaos Codex turns out. I've split the Dark Vengeance set with a buddy, so at the very least my investment isn't huge right now, if the codex becomes a bust.

With cultists becoming troops I might just be motivated to make a diametrically opposed army. I am thinking Slaaneshi (personally like the flawless host quite a bit) chosen, supported with hordes of cultists. Of course odds are this will go the way of my other army attempts and I will end up with like a squad of infantry before I get bored because paint vehicles bores me.

I'm going to expand my Word Bearers force with the new starter. Those Chosen models look awesome. And I can finally have Cultists!

I've shelved my Hakanor's Reavers for now until the new codex hits.

I'm really excited for all the new daemonic engine goodness & the possible inclusion of a warsmith/chaos techmarine to help build up on my theme of the army being a sect that is trying to combine ancient Dark Age of Technology tech with chaotic magicks!
So some "counts as" noise marines for the sonic/siesmic weaponry, a couple of the new dreads & whatever new daemon engines, a warpsmith, sorcerer, havocs and such... Maybe even some the new oblits!

Other than the Terminator Lord I just painted for fun, DV will be the start of my Iron Warriors army and I'm very much looking forward to it.

I'll be expanding my Iron Warriors, who are an undivided legion altogether. I don't know what I'll do if really kickass models come out for cult or marked troops, but some counts-as Plague Marines with lots of bionics could be fun.

Death Guard for sure! I have some great plans for those models, probably just a lunch hammer force or smallish army though, my Iron Hands are my one true love.

not getting chaos per se , but I will buy tons of cultists and hellbruts to use as chaos IG/sentinals in my army . am probably going to use one of the chosen or the lord as azrael , which In also run for my IG blob. Maybe chosen as comissars. And if the "dragon" looks nice am probably going to run some to make vendettas different from valkirias.
I wonder if they are going to make 1ksons suck again though . there wasnt a single dex in which they were good.

I've been a long time fan of Khorne, and since around February i've been patiently waiting to do World Eaters... But something is tempting me with a Thousand Sons sorcery heavy list... Lets wait till the codex is out and then i'll decide

Hanging out for the new codex. Definitely going to start a new Nurgle army (even though I said I wouldn't after the last price rise...) just waiting to see if they re-release the Plague marines. Already slowly gathering Plaguebearers, just picked up a Daemon Prince today. Looking for a cheap Typhus on eBay, and thinking about vehicle conversions.

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"

I'm very, very, very seriously considering a Thousand Sons force using the starter as the basis.

Lord as a Sorcerer Lord, Hellbrute as well, a Hellbrute. Cultists as rabble screen. Chosen as a coven of elite Thousand Sons. Finish it up with two boxes of Thousand Sons from GW, and some Rhinos and Predators with Thousand Sons conversion kits from Forgeworld.

Hmm... Death Guard seems very tasty right now.

I think it wouldn't take much effort in converting up the chosen and cultists in the new starter set to be nurgly.

If they get some cool looking models, I am planning on making a 1K Sons Army. I already have a Demons Army to go along with it.

I'm going for death guard.. Time to get serious with greenstuff and nurgle everything up (though it might be hard on the chosen and lord.. Haven't quite figured out how to properly nurglify those yet.. Anyone got any good ideas on those?)

Though I do like the look of the boxed set models, I'm very definitely waiting for the new codex before I spend any money or time on the traitors. Going by GW's recent work, there will be one or two decent builds in the new codex, which will likely end up tied to specific legions, and a ton of uncompetitive chaff, with which I don't wish to find myself stuck just because I've painted my spiky marines in a particular colourscheme.

I had some hopes for the new starter set, but since all the CSM models have some kind of mutations I can't see myself using them in a true 1ksons army. But I do see some use for the cultists.

I voted "warband" with the idea of a Rogue Trader 40k (aka 1st edition rules) warband in mind. This means a very powerful champion, and then an eclectic mix of followers. Definitely a few units of Cultists, gotta throw in some possessed. Certainly the starter set Chosen models as well. We'll see what else I want when the book comes out, but those few units are for certain!

I currently have a World Eaters army that I am going to be adding to the warband.
