Subject: Space Marine Battle Novel Recommendations?
Okay Gents,
After reading the James Swallow BA Series, which for some reason I enjoyed. I then read Battle for Helsreach, and I think that is absolutely one of the best books I have read so far. I picked up the Battle for the Fang, but I have yet to be really pulled in to that intense 8-hour binge reading mode, should I give it some more time?
Anyway, I was wondering if you gents had any other recommendations? I really like Aaron Bowden Dembski-Bowden, but most of his stuff is Chaos, not my stuff. I am pretty into the Battle Novels though. I will say that I am staying away from the HH for now, as I bought the first one and lost interest. So any recommendations? I am interested in more of the SM lore, and the battle novels seem to be great for me, so any of those anyone can recommend would be great! Thanks gents!

OP just said he wants to stay away from the HH series for now
As for Space Marine Battle novels, a lot of them can be pretty hit-and-miss, but I think you've already read the best of the bunch, which was Helsreach (one of my personal favourites). I would also try Rynn's World, which is based on the Crimson Fists, another Dorn successor Chapter, much like the Black Templars.
The Salamanders trilogy by Nick Kyme is also worth a try. I enjoyed the first book, but havent read the second or third myself.

Emperors gift does provide a very good read.
tomes of fire from the Salamanders are also good.
Badab War stuff is pretty good.
Iron Snakes book. I forget what it is called.
Dawn of War for laughs

I will look into the Rynn's World, I have seen pretty good mentions about that. I was wondering though if anyone read the Fall of Damnos?
Fall of Damnos is complete and utter trash. Avoid it like the plague.
I actually enjoyed it. Yeah it was pure retcon, but who cares?

One of my friends read the Fall of Damnos book and he loved it. Apparently people have different opinions on things! Shocking!
Anyways I would recommend the Ultramarines books. The first two are good, while the 3rd and 6th book are great. In my opinion though the 3rd book is just amazing. I loved the setting and the story.
How was the second BA Omnibus? The first one was a bit underwhelming IMO. Too much action with little to no plot.

Okay, well I am about 1/3 into Battle of the Fang, and so far so good. I think my next book may be Rynn's World. I am tempted to check out the Soul Drinkers books, but they were spoiled for me by a mo-mo at barnes and noble.

I vote against Rynns World, I got it for free and hated it for the time wasted.
It starts with some interesting premises like a female governor with a schoolgirl crush on the chapter master, and a conflict over whether the marines should protect civilians or fulfil their mission. But the last half is just a string of cliches ending with...
Spoiler:
the chapter master and Ork warboss having a sword fight and then the ork getting away at the last second. It's just bad.
The one with the Imperial Fists also had a strong start with 3 recruits from enemy tribes trying to learn to be battle brothers, but once the fighting starts the marines act like idiots.

Fall of damnos was a great read featuring ultramarines who had personalities of their own, and showing some of the rivalry between certain factions within the chapter wich I found to be a nice change from the norm. It also had space. Marines fighting side by side with imperial guard and being impressed. This book made me like the ultramarines and is a solid read.

It was bad because both factions acted like imature, obnoxious children ( which appears to be Kyme's idea of giving them personalities ), the Necrons were burdened with the idiot ball, the spessmuhreen spank was worse than usual and most damning of all, it was utterly boring and read like some saturday morning cartoon. For creepy Necrons there is Dead Men walking, for good Ultramarines one can read Know no Fear. The only Spacemarine Battles book worth reading so far is Helsreach .

Legion of the damned was weird, good book but only had about 10 pages max for the entire book on the damned, the rest of its about Excoriators.
Thought Fall of Damnos was great just because I soent the whole time laughing at the second company being kill and how completly stupid Sicarius is. There were some great bits of story in it, but the best reason to read is to have a luagh at what happens.
